Chris Martin Can't Get Michael Jackson Tickets

Chris%20Martin_16.jpg

Chris Martin is struggling to get tickets for Michael Jackson's London gigs.
The Coldplay rocker - who is married to Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow - is a massive fan of the Thriller hitmaker.

But Martin has been left disappointed that he can't get a pass to go and watch his hero perform at the British capital's O2 Arena.
He says, "I was looking at it on the internet and thought, 'I'd better buy some for myself' and I couldn't. They were totally sold out.

"To sell out like that is a testament to talent. It is just amazing to sell out 50 shows in one city in a big arena. It's the biggest comeback since Lazarus. It's good news - but not for me."

Jackson to travel to O2 Arena by boat!

Washington, Mar 24 (ANI): King of Pop Michael Jackson is planning to travel to O2 Arena for his comeback concerts by boat.
The 50-year-old singer is making a return to the stage in July (09) and wants to reach the venue, which sits on the banks of the city’s River Thames, in style.

According to British newspaper the Daily Mirror, Jackson has requested a river boat company to transport him to the arena.

‘He loves the idea of turning up by boat - he thinks its much more glamorous and very James Bond,’ Contactmusic quoted a source, as saying. (ANI)

Michael Jackson quote:
“And my goal in life is to give to the world what I was lucky to receive: the ecstasy of divine union through my music and my dance.”

Talking Heads Byrne wants Jacksons glove

David Byrne, 56, was the big-suited frontman of Talking Heads. Nowadays, he turns old buildings into instruments and designs bike racks, alongside his solo career. He is touring Britain from Friday, performing songs from three decades of collaboration with Brian Eno
60GETTY_450x300.jpg

How does it feel to play the old stuff again?
Pretty good. There’s some I haven’t played in a long time, one since 1979. Some of those songs are still relevant and that’s a nice surprise.

You must have been offered a fortune for a Talking Heads reunion.
Yes. I’m not keen and it’s unlikely to happen. I don’t need the money badly enough.

Do you miss the big suit? Does it ever get an airing?
No, but I know where it is. It’s down the road in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame [in its New York annexe].

Are you proud to be up there with Madonna, Kylie and Michael Jackson in the iconic clothing stakes?
Sure, it’s fun. Which is Kylie’s famous article of clothing?

Few can.
I think Michael Jackson is selling his bits and pieces now. I know one of the gloves was up for sale. I’m tempted to try to get a glove.
New York asked me to redesign their bike racks. I did one in the shape of a dollar sign for Wall Street

You’ve been wearing a tutu on stage recently. Is it something you’d only do once in a lifetime or could it become a regular part of your wardrobe?
Well, they’re quite comfortable. There’s certainly a lot of ventilation.

Did you ever want to be a dancer?
No, the kind of dancing I do is pretty peculiar. As much as I’ve tried, I’m not really able to do regular dance steps. I don’t think I’ll be on Dancing With The Stars any time soon.

You and Brian Eno recorded your latest album by e-mail. Can’t you stand to be in the same room?
No, we get along fine. It’s cheaper, with him living in London and me living in New York. And he’s always in the middle of a Coldplay record or working on a U2 record. So he’d send me the stuff and I’d work on it.

You’ve been turning old buildings into musical instruments lately. How does that work?
I did it at an abandoned ferry terminal here in New York and an old factory in Stockholm. And we’re planning to do it at the Roundhouse in London. We basically attach mechanical devices to bits of an old building structure – machines to vibrate girders, air compressors blowing air into the plumbing, little hammers banging on columns. All the hoses and pipes funnel down to an old pump organ keyboard that controls everything, and the public is invited to come in and play the thing.

What does it sound like?
It clangs, as you’d expect, but it actually sounds more musical than you’d think.

How did you end up designing bike racks?
I’ve used a bike to get around New York for decades. The department of transportation here got wind of that and asked me to judge a competition to redesign the regular bike racks. And, sort of as a joke, I drew some sketches and e-mailed some to them. They were for specific neighbourhoods – one in the shape of a dollar sign for Wall Street, one of a lady’s high-heeled shoe for 57 Street, one in the shape of a guitar for Williamsburg. They said: ‘If you get these made, we’ll put them up.’

Loads of young bands cite Talking Heads as an influence. Is it strange to be fashionable at 56?
Yes. But I like some of those bands so for me it’s nice to have some exciting new music on my iPod.

Do you hear yourself in their music?
Sometimes. Quite often one of my friends will say to me: ‘I know why you like that band, they sound like you.’ Which is kind of embarrassing. Everything That Happens Will Happen Today by David Byrne and Brian Eno is out now.

Ian, STFU, Halperine; what an ass:
BILLIONAIRE BLASTS JACKSON PRIVATE PARTY RUMOURS

Russian billionaire OLEG DERIPASKA has slammed reports pop superstar MICHAEL JACKSON is set to perform at a private party the businessman is staging, branding the rumours "sheer fantasy".
The Thriller hitmaker was alleged to have negotiated a $2.9 million (£2 million) paycheque in exchange for an appearance at Deripaska's glitzy bash in April (09).

But representatives for the Russian tycoon have blasted the claims, made by Jackson biographer Ian Halperin earlier this month (Mar09).
The former journalist further alleged Jackson had demanded a team of nine doctors be on-hand throughout the performance - just in case he felt unwell. But all claims have been dismissed by a spokesman for Deripaska's office.

His representative Sergey Babichenko tells WENN, "A number of Russian and international media recently has published rumours about Michael Jackson's alleged forthcoming performance at Oleg Deripaska's party. This expressly false information has nothing to do with reality."

Aww, poor Chris Martin! I hope he gets some tickets somewhere. He should have been on the ball about that idea.

Why won't chris get he's tickets from ebay or other places. I'm sure a few thousands is pockets change for him and his wife.

I think the Coldplay man is able to buy a VIP ticket at 750 p , this story seems strange to me ...

LMAO!! This "author" is a mess, everything leaked from his book is being laughed off the papers, did someone REALLY sign him lol

Tha Halperin guy seems to be very "creative" with his reporting on Michael. I mean is he trying to amuse the public or what?

This boat idea is probably mostly for his security.. If Mike was driving from the country side to the O2 his entourage would be an easy target for anyone who wants to harm him..
I wonder if he would find a place to stay near the thames and just hop into a boat from there..

Hmm...the boat story is curious. Could be bogus but who knows. Sounds kinda cool and different tho. If true, I wonder if I'll be able to see his boat on the Thames from my hotel window since it has a view of the Thames...one of the things that sold me on booking it. :)

Why won't chris get he's tickets from ebay or other places. I'm sure a few thousands is pockets change for him and his wife.

Maybe some ppl are reserved about buying on ebay right now becuz of the uncertainty about tickets over the 4 limit rule. Some of them may get cancelled down the line for going over the limit. Hopefully, Ticketmaster will let everyone know when they're done with the cancellation process. That way, ppl will know whether the tix they have are safe and clear to sell/buy.

Thanks to all for the news and mentionings. :flowers:

I wouldn't put it past Mike to travel in a boat. You know how he is for doing something different and thinking outside the box

'The Essential Michael Jackson' Rockets to #1!

"The Essential Michael Jackson" Reaches #1 On the Billboard Top Pop Catalog Albums Chart & Top 10 on iTunes
NEW YORK, March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- "The Essential Michael Jackson," a career-spanning collection of must-have Michael Jackson tracks, hit #1 on the Billboard Top Pop Catalog albums chart while rocketing its way into the Top 10 top-selling albums chart at the iTunes Store, America's #1 music store, following an episode of "American Idol" (aired March 10), featuring this year's AI finalists performing their own versions of songs from the classic Michael Jackson catalog.
Response to the Michael Jackson song exposure on "American Idol" proved overwhelmingly positive in the digital realm, where "The Essential Michael Jackson" collection bulleted its way into the Top 10 on the iTunes top-selling albums chart as well as SoundScan's Top 10 Digital albums chart.
Along with the surging renewal of interest in "The Essential Michael Jackson," sales for other Michael Jackson albums available digitally more than tripled the same week.
Individual Michael Jackson digital track sales soared during the same period as well with American Idol crowdpleaser "P.Y.T." leading the pack with "Thriller" and "Billie Jean" (two classics not performed on the AI Michael Jackson show) following closely, proving the ongoing viability of the Michael Jackson catalog.
Earlier this month, Michael Jackson announced that he would perform his first series of full concerts in more than a decade, a residency at London's 02 Arena, the largest indoor concert facility in Europe.

Threat detailed in dispute over Neverland trove

By DAVID B. CARUSO Associated Press Writer
Updated: 03/24/2009 04:16:11 PM PDT

NEW YORK—When troubled pop king Michael Jackson is involved, even a yard sale can become an epic struggle.

A Hollywood auction house hired by Jackson to sell off the contents of his shuttered Neverland Ranch said it is pressing ahead with plans to put some 2,000 items on the block in April, despite the pop legend's surprise bid this month to halt the sale.

Some of the glitziest items will be on display to the public at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square this week, including one of Jackson's signature black fedoras, two of his MTV Video Music Awards, costumes he wore on tour in the 1980s and several crystal-encrusted gloves.

Jackson filed a lawsuit in early March, claiming that he had never given permission for the sale of many "priceless and irreplaceable" items.

The auction house, Julien's Auctions, fired back in court papers, saying that Jackson's representatives had been deeply and enthusiastically involved in the sale for many months, until a sudden reversal last month.

The company's president, Darren Julien, said in a sworn statement filed with a Los Angeles court that the singer's representatives even tried to intimidate him into postponing the sale.

During a Feb. 9 meeting at a fast-food restaurant in Los Angeles, he said, one of Jackson's employees warned that the auctioneers would be in danger "from Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam," if they didn't call it off.

"He told us that Dr. Tohme and Michael Jackson wanted to give the message to us 'that our lives are at stake and there will be bloodshed,'" Julien said, referring to Jackson business manager, Tohme Tohme.

Alan Gutman, a lawyer Jackson's company MJJ Productions, said Julien was "desperate to divert attention from his own misconduct" and accused him of making "scurrilous attacks."

"Unfortunately, in the course of this case, Mr. Julien has not felt constrained by the truth while trying to capture the spotlight for the auction or himself with sensationalistic and fictionalized references to supposed threats that never occurred or baseless speculation about potential sales of Neverland," Gutman told The Associated Press."

He said the consignment agreement in which Jackson purportedly gave up his right to take items back before the auction was also illegal and unenforceable under California law.

Tohme did not immediately respond to a phone message.

Julien said he didn't believe the threat, and the two sides have since agreed to let some of Jackson's property continue to travel on a publicity tour in advance of an April 3 court hearing. The auction is scheduled for April 21.

A similar preview of the items in Ireland earlier this month drew thousands of fans, and the auctioneers expect thousands more at a larger exhibition and preview in Los Angeles in a few weeks.

Julien estimated that the sale could bring in $10 million to $20 million—money that Jackson could desperately use. He reportedly has been experiencing financial problems for several years, and has not performed a major concert since 2001—four years before his acquittal on child molestation charges. He recently announced a series of concerts in London that sold out in hours.

Jackson will get any profits from the sale, minus the auction house commissions.

In court filings, Julien's Auctions said it was first contacted by Jackson's representatives about auctioning off Neverland's trove of memorabilia last July.

Darren Julien said he found the 2,500-acre property and its zoo and amusement park rides "in shambles," but jumped at the chance to salvage decades worth of art, clothing and furniture, as well as stage props and several of Jackson's awards.

He said the items were removed over several months under the supervision of Jackson's agents, and that the singer's employees were also involved in drafting press releases, approving auction catalog covers and negotiating a deal to give 5 percent of the proceeds to charity.

"Its upsetting to me," Julien said of the lawsuit.

But he said he was still intent on giving Jackson, his client, a "first-class auction."

"There will never be another artist or celebrity like Michael Jackson," Julien said. "He has the most dedicated fans of anyone we have ever worked with."

another biased 'reporter' not putting all of Julien's statements in quotes, as if they spoke the comments themselves. and putting MJ's comments in quotes, as if the priceless items aren't so priceless.

and then adding the usual copy and paste shit that says MJ is desperate for money, and forever connected to child molestation...then the reporter does put in quotes the Julien statements, that would make him come off as a man who takes the high road, when it's clear that Julien is not doing that.

quite typical of these reporters.

Um, yes, as if someone like Chris Martin would have to buy concert tickets the regular way.

What a crap story.

I read the elephant bit as well, first thoughts were that these tabloid reporters, who probably consider themselves intelligent actually seem to believe their own fiction.

The boat bit I can buy, the ferry service running on the Thames for the 02 is there to avoid the traffic in London, and is a nice trip, so I could maybe imagine him using it - just.

It is predictable that the stories will get bigger and dafter as time goes on. I imagine Michael would have a good laugh at that as well. Lets hope the elephant story doesn't give him ideas!

I can be anyone money that the elephant story and the boat story are false...made up by some yellow journalist..

and I can also bet money that there was no threat to the owners of Julian's auction house.....I don't care if they put it in court papers....
