@MJbr2 I'm sure they'll help out.
I'm here!
Presumably this was changed every night depending on what country/city they were in. I'd actually love to see a database with the list of medley songs for every night of the tour.
Not the whole piece. Each of the musicians had a solo spot during the jam, but Greg was the guy playing the random songs. The most recurring song was
It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night by Prince which was even played on the July 16 show, but I reckon it was the Estate's call to edit that out of the DVD to avoid having to pay royalties (also Prince was not fond of people using his music, so who knows).
Greg left after the Tokyo shows to join Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler and John Barnes replaced him for the last 5 shows in LA. It seems Chris Currell took over his duties as you can hear him play a talkbox-ish version of
Off The Wall, as well as
Superstition on the final night.
In case you'd like to dive deeper into them, Bad Tour Source is at your disposal. You can find all the recordings available (although Bad Groove, the jam, is cut in some of them). It'd also be great if you'd be willing to take it upon yourself to create a list of which different songs were played in each night (some people even helped namedropping some of them in the comments of some videos).
If you look at aerial photos of Aintree, there are two black squares on either side of the stage - I'm not sure if they're screens or not. Mostly it was during the 90s that shows started to have live video, but with MJ you never know if it was recorded or not.
ALL of MJs solo tours were taped in full by
Nocturne Productions, a company he hired himself for the job. The problem lies within the fact that MJ didn't have a proper resource management back then. Also, he potentially stored everything at Neverland and we can't forget about the 2003 raid and how the FBI conducted it. While pieces of evidence of several tapes still existing have been shown over the years in multiple places, it is believed that some tapes are either lost or have been destroyed.
As for the additional film material, MJ had a second crew with film cameras rolling during the Bad and Dangerous tours. Mostly for the Another Part of Me music video project, but Warren Eagles, colorist and crew member, stated that a full concert film was edited from the bulk of footage shot during the Wembley dates in July, sent back to Frank's office in LA, but that's where the trail goes cold as its current location is unknown. What does survive is a handful of APOM performances from several shows, which ended up being used by Spike Lee to create a montage for the
Bad 25 docu in 2012.
In regards of SD tape masters, the Estate has been disconsidering them since 2012 over the argument of them having "unusable audio", something that does not apply in times of AI and stem-separation tools. Also, Rome and Tokyo which have been widely available for years are reference for what they call "unusable audio" if you're curious. As for the video quality, they have used a brief snippet as a patch for a damaged part at the end of Billie Jean on the Wembley DVD which you can look up for yourselves.
