For no other reason than to make some of you jealous, tell me who you’ve seen live. Ideally full shows not small festival appearances (unless they were full length shows)

Not sure I’ll remember all mine but here goes:

MJ (Bad, Dangerous and HIStory x2)
Madonna (Girlie Show, Reinvention, MDNA)
George Michael (25 Live, Symphonica)
Prince (Leeds 2014)
Janet Jackson (1992, 1995)
Stevie Wonder (2008)
Oasis (6 times inc. Maine Road & Knebworth)
Queen + Adam Lambert
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Suede (8 times)
Fratellis (8 times)
Gloria Estefan (1990)
McAlmont & Butler
Father John Misty
McFly
The Killers
Kaiser Chiefs
Vaccines
Brandon Flowers
Eddi Reader
White Denim
Ezra Furman
Brett Anderson

Damn Baby,I missed off Janet. Got a good story about that as well!

And Matty, you don't get to include support acts. Them the brakes.

I think support acts should be allowed, as long as they're people you've heard of.

I also forgot to mention I saw Kylie back in the late 90s when she was went through her cool indie phase. She was quite good back then before she whipped the hot pants back out when her record sales dwindled.

Wow, that is so weird you mention that. I was listening to Confide In Me yesterday off that great eponymous album she did in '94 (I think). There's a great song on there called Dangerous Game.

Yeah I loved those two albums she did back in the mid-late 90s. Confide In Me is a fantastic song. And I always thought Dangerous Game sounded like a Bond theme.

Did you ever hear Impossible Princess? I think Kylie was cool as **** back then. Went off her when she abandoned making quality music in favour of selling records.

No, never got the IP stuff. I was a fan so quite excited about it but it didn't do it for me. Sounded like she was trying a bit too hard.

I like her proper pop stuff (I'm a sucker for a good S/A/W tune) and her 1994 album but nothing since then except for the glorious dance-pop of 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head'. But by rights we should hate that as I think it stopped 'You Rock My World' becoming Number One.

Yes, I remember that. IIRC (see, I'm up with the modern lingo), it was very close, something like 50 copies between them. If only Sony had put out a CD1 and CD2 (do you remember those days?), then that would've swung it for YRMW. Although, to be fair, Can't Get You Out Of Head was a great pop song.

If you love Confide In Me, check out the song Dreams on YouTube from Impossible Princess. It's probably the best song she ever did.

To be clear, is the song called 'Dreams on YouTube' and Kylie was way ahead of her time?

No matter who I've seen, I never got to see David Bowie. That will sting until I die.

Ones that got to sting?

The joker in me says The Police

But really it was Queen at Elland Road, Leeds

Ha. I suppose I could list some of the ones that really mattered, because I've been to a lot:

Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, Elton John, James Brown, Jack White, Muse, Oasis, Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds, Kasabian, Blondie, Beyonce, The Strokes, The Killers, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac, The Raconteurs, New Order, The Who, Richard Ashcroft, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Beck

I nearly went to Jack White in Leeds last year, but then didn't.

Actually that's a story I should save for my autobiography.

Stam1na 2008
Nightwish 2009
Iron Maiden/Alice Cooper 2011
Nightwish twice in 2012

I dont think it would matter. He's so good that you're just blown away at what he's doing. He did a good lot of Stripes when I saw him last (one of my favourite bands) but he'll be like Dylan. You will have a million opportunities to see him live. He'll die touring.

Like Tommy Cooper.

Yeah I'll make sure I catch him next time. I think if it would have been a smaller venue I'd have gone.

I have never seen anybody live.

And i doubt i ever will because everyone i wanted to see is dead....

So yes Tony R, i am absolutely jealous.
You should be thankful for your experiences!

That's so heartbreaking! Also reminds me of The Sixth Sense in a way.

And yes, I am grateful. I sorta realised a few years ago that the only things you regret in life are the things you said no to.

E.g. If I hadn't forked out & seen Prince when I did, that would have been it & I'd have kicked myself forever.

Well I can hardly blame myself that I didn't see them live because I wasn't born lol

But I am glad that you have these memories :)

Now don't get mad at me but i didn't even know who Prince is until he died.... I've just started to listen to his songs and I really like him. Another missed chance is George Michael, i really wanted to see him!!

So which was your favourite concert?

I can't answer that.

Okay you've talked me into it.

I adore my rock gigs so Suede 2014 in Leeds and Fratellis are up there.

George Michael 25 Live was perfect. Amazing setlist & he was such a pro. Stunning.

Bad Tour obviously & Dangerous.

Madonna The Girlie Show in 1992 & Reinvention in 2004 were amazing. MDNA was great as I was in her golder circle (!!!) but the setlist wasn't the best.

The great thing about Madonna live is that every song & show is so different. She has never performed a song the same way twice.

Stevie was just a dream, a few too many jam sessions with the band, but I loved it. You knew you were seeing a legend.

Prince was Prince! But he did too many medley's and nowhere near enough 90's stuff. I mean don't only sing 30 seconds of Diamonds & Pearls and then do a ten minute version of 'Play That Funky Music'.

Yeah...lucky...

^ you were lucky indeed

I actually had tickets for Janet's Unbreakable tour but ...well....

I watched a George Michael concert (it was from 2008 i think) and i thought: wow he's great... this was 2 days before christmas.I am cursed lol

Nah, I don't see myself travelling for Dylan. He's past his best in my humble opinion and I say that as a person who has every single album and box set. He'll always be in my top 2 or 3 but that has more to do with the past; 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and parts of the 00's, but I'm not mad about his latest Sinatra phase. I appreciate and delight in the fact that he's still here doing it but it's at a stage now where it's extremely hit or miss for me, and understandbly so. He's still the greatest writer that ever happened to music imo.

I'm going to wait and see. I'd like to see him once. Have been listening to a lot of his 60's stuff and stuff with The Band, so would love to see him.

I would say if you're going to see him don't have any expectations. You probably know this, but he's far from what you get on record. Great one to tick off your list but apart from seeing him in the flesh and having a few small moments of sheer delight, it can be underwhelming if you expect the earth to move.

I have a list of every artist I've seen perform live. This includes full sets, festival appearances, instore promos and support slots. I could go through and edit but...nah.

Tell me about R.E.M. Was that a full set or festival? Do you remember the setlist?

I saw David in Manchester at a charity Christmas concert. I actually didn't care much for him until this night. He only did two songs but I'll never forget Sail Away. His voice was spellbindingly good. It just filled the entire venue. Changed everything.
