Andrew Patrick Wood (January 8, 1966 – March 19, 1990) was an American musician best known as the lead singer and lyricist for the alternative rock bands Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone.
Wood formed Malfunkshun in 1980 with his older brother Kevin Wood on guitar and Regan Hagar on drums. The band used alter ego personas onstage, with Wood using the name Landrew the Love Child. Though the band only had two songs released, "With Yo' Heart (Not Yo' Hands)" and "Stars-n-You", on the Deep Six compilation album, they are often cited as being among the "founding fathers" of the Seattle music movement.

Mother Love Bone was an American rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1988. The band was active from 1988 to 1990. Frontman Andrew Wood's personality and lyrics helped to catapult the group to the top of the burgeoning late 1980s/early 1990s Seattle music scene. Wood died only days before the scheduled release of the band's debut album, Apple, thus ending the group's hopes of success. The album was finally released a few months later.
As well as being influential to the Seattle music movement ,Media named " grunge", they are also considered early pioneers in the alternative metal genre.

Andrew /L'andrew /Andy was an extra prolific songwriter and front man....and sweetheart! And capricorn brother! ❤️
Andrew was a master of his craft.
He could sing like a silky dream.,Vocals are so rich, and like honey! ❤️
He could play keyboard and guitar, tambourine, and write his own songs, - lyrically so beautiful and original.Just check out the style, and placement of his words, and the intensity of his works.
Andrews speciality was love rock- his own genre. Andy particularly enjoyed artists such as Elton John, Freddie Mercury and Marc Bolan.
Andy was the charismatic and beautiful front man to his own two bands Malfunkshun (which he created with his brother , Mr Kevin Wood (on an Easter sunday in 1980, according to the wiki.) and the legendary Mother Love Bone. :flowers:

The most treasured gift Andy left to this world

Apple was released posthumously later in the year, receiving positive reviews.[SUP][14][/SUP] David Browne of The New York Times wrote that "Apple may be one of the first great hard-rock records of the 90s" and that "Andrew Wood could have been the first of the big-league Seattle rock stars."

I am so happy that this thread has had that many views! and guys, its so nice to know - that some of us would have wanted *Love Rock*and who knows what else could have come.
So , now i have you engaged in his music - Here's a question, Do some of you not see Andrew as the "John Lennon "figure for the 1990s? his work and lyrics were that moving and profound . Could we at least think about that ?

Can we not find beautiful, similar connections in the way his lyrics , Oh and his melody's makes us feel? Imagine and make comparrsion with the beauty of songs , such as Imagine by John Lennon and Man of golden words by Andrew Wood .
Here's the best imagine of all - Imagine the four of them , Michael , Axl , John, and Andy writing a song- An album ? Does that strike your core - make some of you smile warmly ? could this have changed the world? It would have moved the world to its core = Beyond the Beatles im telling ya . !!! You know it too.

Mindsets people . We love beautiful and appreciate mindsets.

Like i wrote on You Tube to a comment i see alot (not quite word for word since i feel more to write each time i do think about this ), " but if andy had survived there would be no pearl jam no temple of the dog" Well thats pretty selfish thinking in my opinion ... so i wrote ,
" If for one second we could undo the fabric of time and erase what happened and had he have lived , Andy would have gone on to become a star , artist in his own right. When you think about it - The thing he was creating , introducing was LOVE ROCK , Something which wasn't noted by anyone else. You'd have gotton Pearl Jam, Nirvana , Soundgarden Candlebox and my personal favourite, Alice in Chains, and the other fellow bands. But through Andy's flamboyance, Charisma and characteristics he would have most defiantly spawned / influenced a different type of artistry alongside the legendary Seattle music movement. Grunge since it was so kindly labeled by the media ( roll eyes) would still have been around because the media would have pushed that and pushed the music since into darkness.. As my signature imagery proves both michael and axl were not plunged into darkness - their music was heard and loved dearly by millions - so why not andys? and you'd also have Andy as an artist in his own right since i could not see him enjoy "grunge". Could you really see him in plain clothes, singing arguably drab song lyrics ?In my opinion it would have been more ..colourful than it was.
More choices? Oh what could have been ... L'Andrew the Love Child lives on - especially now a michael jackson fan has researched his art , vision , and what he left us. I, for one am screaming Andy from he roof tops everywhere right now - Appreciative of His mind, art , and compassionate heart & what he glorious art he left us. Thank You L'Andrew!

It is truly all for LOVE !

Here are some more pictures of our lovely Andy to brighten your day(or night, or afternoon for that matter) - L'Andrew the Love Child.
