Yes, The Ohio Players, as well as
the Zapp band (Roger Troutman and his brothers).

Many people would probably not readily think of the southwestern area of Ohio as being a hotbed of groups like that, but it was. I also vividly remember seeing James Brown perform here when I was about 20 in a smaller "club", what a show.
