Rapper Chris Kelly of the '90s group Kris Kross was found dead at his Atlanta home this evening, a rep for the Fulton Country Medical Examiner confirmed to Billboard. He was 34.
Officials told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Kelly was found unresponsive and transported to Atlanta Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
No other details were available at press time. We're told an autopsy will be performed Thursday morning.
The duo was best known for their multi-million selling 1992 album "Totally Krossed Out" and the major hit "Jump," which spent eight weeks atop the Hot 100. Mac Daddy, as Kelly was known, and Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith famously wore their baggy clothes backwards.
Earlier this year, the group performed at the 20th anniversary party for Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label in Atlanta.

Aw dam! What?! We were just talking about them in a thread on this very forum just about a month ago. What the hell happened? Aw man. Wow. Rest in peace Mac Daddy.
Their first, and by far most successful song, was "Jump." The hit, off their multiplatinum 1992 debut album "Totally Krossed Out,"
Their success led to instant fame: They toured with Michael Jackson on his
Dangerous Tour, appeared on TV shows and even had their own video game.

Chris Kelly was my Best Friend. He was like a brother. I love him and will miss him dearly. Our friendship began as little boys in first grade. We grew up together. It was a blessing to achieve the success, travel the world and entertain Kris Kross fans all around the world with my best friend. It is what we wanted to do and what brought us happiness. I will always cherish the memories of the C-Connection. ~ Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith

R.I.P Chris Kelly. This song (Jump On It) is now officially dedicated to you. May GOD embrace your soul & lift up your family. ~ LL Cool J

Rest in peace. Chris Kelly #KrisKross #jumpjump. ~ Alyssa Milano

To the world Chris was MacDaddy but to me, he was a son I never had. As much as you may think I taught him, he taught me, God has blessed me to be in the presence of so many naturally talented people and Chris was one. His understanding of what we set out to do, from day one was always on point. His passion for music, his love for doing shows, his want to better than everyone else was always turnt up. When I think about it I spent more time with Chris and Chris [Smith] than damn near anybody in my whole life, so you can imagine how bad this hurts. I will always love you Chris, and I will never let the world forget you, may God bless you. ~ Jermaine Dupri

We actually all performed on the same stage about a month or two ago. Jermaine Dupri had his 20th anniversary for So So Def and they opened up the show. It was good to see Kris Kross together doing their thing after so long. It's a shock that this happened today. ~ Lil' Jon

Does anyone know the cause of his death yet?

The rap world was left shocked and saddened when news broke about the death of Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly, one-half of the rap duo Kris Kross, late last night. Despite his short, yet pivotal success in the early ’90s, there’s surprisingly very little known about the man we used to refer to as Mac Daddy. Like what had he been doing all these years after Kris Kross? Was he battling cancer at some point in his life? How exactly did Jermaine Dupri discover him and Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith? You can find the answers to all of these questions along with more interesting facts about the late Chris Kelly in our round up below.

1) Mall Discovery
Mega-producer Jermaine Dupri discovered Chris Kelly and his buddy Chris Smith at an Atlanta mall while the two were playing video games at the age of 13 years-old. The two had no idea who he was and at the time, but were keen on the idea of becoming rap stars.

2) Rap Skillz
Prior to being discovered, Kelly had never rapped a day in his life.

3) Digital Minded
Along with his partner Chris Smith, the two developed a video game titled “Kris Kross: Make My Video” for Sega, which went on to be ranked one of the 20 worst games of all time by Electronic Gaming Monthly.

4) Hiatus
During his absence from the music industry, Kelly went back to school to learn how to be a studio engineer.

5) Record Label
Kelly started his own independent label called C.CO.Records and was said to have recorded hundreds of songs during his time out of the spotlight.

6) Hidden Talents
Despite Kelly’s rap roots, neighbors say the Kriss Kross rapper was very much into classical music and could often be heard playing the piano next door.

7) Health Issues
When images of a balding Kelly surfaced the net, most people believed the rapper was suffering from cancer. Kelly soon cleared up the rumors and stated the true culprit was alopecia, a skin condition that causes one to lose his hair.

8) Jumping the Charts
At the time of it’s run, Kris Kross’ 1992 hit “Jump” was the longest running No. 1 single since the Police’s eight-week run of “Every Breath You Take” in 1983.

9) Child Rappers Unite
Kelly met fellow child-rapper Bow Wow for the first time at the So So Def 20th anniversary dinner back in February of this year.
