Kraftwerk is a band from Germany, who were pioneers in electronic music. They formed in 1970, and still occasionally tour today.

i haven't yet delved into any of their 80s+ stuff but i have just about all of their earlier pioneering material. we had to study them in one of my courses and just fell in love with their work

but even with all the crazy innovations and electronic madness, my favourite piece is the more 'acoustic' Ruckzuck from their debut as Kraftwerk

Yeah that one is a bit "lively" and not as cold sounding as their later music, lol.

i usually can't watch the videos because they ruin the whole vibe for me LOL it seems they had something completely different going through their heads when making them than i do when listening to it

or we just smoked different ish.

but the Ruckkuck one is cool, haven't seen it before. there are changes to the music as well..

here's another one of my favs:

Radioactivity

i heard a live revamped version of it and loved it as well.

The audience looks kinda out of it, lol. One of the girls looked frightened.

I've got a piano phone just like the one in the video that my parents gave me many years ago. :) It actually can be played, too. Sounds nothing like a grand piano though. Just had to mention that. :D

Maybe she's having a bad trip. Too bad; I enjoyed it.

Listed among Kraftwerk's influences is Karlheinz Stockhausen.

I know Autobahn and Trans Europe Express; nice to hear some other things as well. :)

Kraftwerk are on of my favorite bands. Considering how big Electronica music is, Kraftwerk have got to be one of the most influencial bands of all time.

They're an influence on mid 80s hip hop as well. Apparently they invented the rear projection screen for concerts too, lol.

This is a more quiet song:

Midnight (1974)

Kraftwerk are one of my favorite bands, even though Florian has left now.

Seen them last year in Krakow, Poland, absolutely stunning gig, total perfection.

I visited their Kling Klang studio in Dusseldorf too.

If anyone gets the chance to go see them, please do, you wont regret it.

are you guys signed? that is some great music. i could nicely hear the French and German electronica influences there.

I Get Along (In A World Without You) is simply beautiful. i resonate with that so much, especially the chord progressions (is that proper Rhodes??) and vocal (vocoder) layers. the guitars are just the cherry on top there too!

how can i cop it? i'd pay good money for that.

Thanks a million, glad you like what you hear.

It's actually just me messing about, I'm never happy with anything I do though, and there's a danger of swamping it with sounds, that then becomes a sonic mess!

It's an Abbey Road rhodes module, awesome plug in.

I love AIR, they really made an impression on me with their fluffy, velvety harmonies, I was trying to get some of that into my stuff.

Send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you them.

as i say, you can nicely hear that influence put in there but without it at all sounding like a rip-off.

and an Abbey Road Rhodes plug-in!? can't believe i've never heard of it before. is it VST or what?

Send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you them.

You're not talking about the Propellerheads Abbey Road Keyboards Refill?

BTW, "I Get Along" on your myspace was really nice! Love the "weird" mixing/panning on the sounds!

i have that refill and it doesn't doesn't include the Fender Rhodes or any electric pianos except the Hammond organ. Propellerhead have another refill pack called "Elecro Mechanical" which samples authentic Rhodes, Wurlys and Clavs but it's crap.

i thought Bobo was maybe talking about a processing plug-in designed for the Rhodes effects. i would love something like that especially since Abbey Road make some excellent mastering plug-ins.

yeah, sounds really cool. first 4 notes are nicely taken from AIR's New Star In The Sky =D

Duran Duran

Here's Duran Duran performing Kraftwerk's Showroom Dummies in 2007. It's a fan shot video, so the quality isn't that great.

Anyone get the new remasters of 8 Kraftwerk albums called The Catalogue? It's a box-set from last November.

Here's a brilliant article on the crispy new remasters.

Here's the earlier version of the group called Organisation.
