Kill The Messenger-Media destroyed and killed journalist

There is a movie coming out called Kill the Messenger. It is about journalist Gary Webb and how he uncovered the fact that crack cocaine was being brought into the inner city and the CIA knew and allowed because it was funding the Contras. Gary worked for the San Jose Mercury News but the LA Times, NY Times, and Washington Post discredited him with lies and innuendos. They made it a point to destroy him. They were embarrassed that a small newspaper scooped them and they also wanted to keep the government on their side. They knew he had facts and was doing good work but because he scooped them they went out and destroyed him. He was killed with two bullets to his head and the coroner ruled it a suicide. If you were to read articles you will see how the newspapers made a concerted effort to financial ruin him and ruin his personal life. They succeeded. They used lies. They did whatever they had to do. Even the San Jose Mercury News participated because the other papers had Editors that were so powerful that they went after their own journalist.

I always think of Michael because of this-the media can do whatever they choose. They can twist and turn all they want, even facts. Gary Webb never stood a chance and neither did Michael.
