The Pinoy element
TO BE sure, most Pinoy things are derivatives of imported stuff (from clothes to food to music). Why then do some capture the market and some don’t? After all, weren’t they copying the same thing? Is it because the fall-outs were not Western enough? Or, if one were to reexamine the premises, not Pinoy enough?
As for dancers, what about those prisoners in Cebu dancing their hearts out to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” on YouTube? What about the Pinoy dancers in Disneyland, Hong Kong, who are a hit because they do a todo performance, all the time, compared to Chinese dancers who move like automatons. Besting people in their own land!

COPPOLA BLASTS BRANDO'S BAD REPUTATION
Caption: A Marlon Brando (Picture) Western Union telegram to Michael Jackson dated July 6, 1984 that reads: "Dear Michael, Thinking about you this evening. Please try not to make an ass of yourself and please for God's sake don't fall in the orchestra pit, Michael." on display at the Michael Jackson family auction at the Hard Rock Casino & Hotel in Las....
Late acting legend MARLON BRANDO was a misunderstood eccentric, according to FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA, the director who knew him best.
Coppola cast Brando in two of his most famous roles as mafia boss Don Vito Corleone in The Godfather and Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now.
And the Oscar-winning director insists Brando's reputation as a difficult diva was unfair.

Coppola says, "Marlon was never hard to work with. His behaviour was a little eccentric on the set. He was like a bad boy and did what he wanted. But as an actor he was never hard to work with."
Fresno's Jason Glover dances toward his dream
Fresno’s Jason Glover, one of 20 finalists for this season of the Fox series “So You Think You Can Dance,” is keeping close to his heart the words of wisdom he got from actor/dancer Gregory Hines.
In 2003, Hines’s dance tour made a stop in Fresno. As part of the show, the actor/dancer invited several local people on stage. One of those novice dancers was a 15-year-old Glover. Hines was so impressed with Glover, he invited the Fresnan and his mother, Sylvia Glover, to a small party after the show.

It was Glover’s mother who took the first steps toward igniting the dance passion in Glover. She showed him videos of hoofers like Hines, Michael Jackson and Fred Astaire. It wasn’t long before Glover was studying tap and hip-hop.
