Joe Jackson: It’s All About the Benjamins (and a Hearty Breakfast)

It’s good to know that Joe Jackson—who turns 81 next month—is making at least one concession to a healthy diet.
Interviewed on Film Festival Radio via phone from his Indiana hotel room last week, the Jackson family dad stopped in the middle of his chat to order breakfast.

"I'm ordering my food and talking on the radio!" Joe (above) laughed.


“Let me have one pancake, two eggs, summer sausage and sugar-free syrup,” he told room service—before adding, “And two strips of bacon.”

Moments earlier, however, when host Janice Malone asked Joe about his favorite composition by his son, Michael Jackson, he replied, “I like the Earth Song. [It's] about saving the animals.”

Joe, who was in Janice’s hometown of Nashville this weekend for an appearance at the 1st Annual Metro City Women’s Forum & Expo, also discussed another of his superstar offspring—Janet Jackson.

“Everything Janet has sung or recorded and performed is good [and] makes money,” he beamed.

“See, Janet has a lot of fans, almost as many fans as Michael had, and those fans are always looking for something good coming from their artist.

“But at the same time they love their artist and the artist tries to patronize to the fans to keep them happy.”

Joe also weighed in on American Idol, saying:
“Anything is good if it makes money, ya know. That’s what I think.
“It’s all about the money, really, and if the person who is doing the interview, if they’re telling the truth and that’s what the interviewer wants to hear and the money is right, it’s a great deal.”

I feel so embarrassed for him whenever he speaks! and this is what Michael had to deal with, I swear Michael knew what he was doing when he created that Will 'cause had he left it for Joe to handle, then there would be NOTHING left for Mike's kids!
 
I'm not even sure what the point of this article is. Any and everybody in a profession works for money, it’s seldom just an altruistic endeavor, if at all. And, they're at a restaurant and he can't stop to order his breakfast? Come on, get real. And newsflash, people can actually love Earth Song and still eat bacon. :)

Journalists are truly silly sometimes.
 
the only thing scares me most is even with a courts order his involvement in mj3 (belt scenario). :praying:
in general i really don't care about him.
 
American Idol and shows like that are all about the money. If they make money they're good .. business is business. They aint making those shows for the good of humanity.

I don't take this at face value, I don't see what's 'dispicable'..perhaps I see it different because I studied psychology maybe I look at things differently but this is what I think..

He sounds proud of Janet when he says..

See, by reading this it makes me think of an interview after MJ died when he sounded proud when he was talking about MJ being the greatest entertainer etc...that's always the way he talks about him, as the superstar.. like when he said he wants to remember him how he was on stage..as being the great idol that he was and everyone admiring him. MJ said himself that his dad didn't want anyone looking down on his children. If they're popular and making money it's all good in Joe's mind, people can't put them down.. it's something for him to be proud of.. yeh that shouldn't mean as much to him as MJ the man, his son not the idol.. but that's Joe right. We know he likes money and money means success.. That's what makes him proud. He was treated similar as a child to how I see he treated his children, including Michael, he said his dad Samuel treated him as one of his students, not as a son.

Oh and I don't see why he can't eat sausages and bacon and like Earth Song at the same time. :lol:
Was the journo tryting to be funny.. he does actually like animals..remember Private Home Movies during Joe Jackson day at Neverland MJ is watching Joe with a chimp and says 'He loves animals, i think thats where I got my love of animals from him'.

success means money and joe is proud of his kids the jacksons5/thejacksons michael solo career janet, ribbie and latoya I also think its the way joe was taught, in the beginning when the jackson 5 were dong talent shows and joe did not except second place but only first place, I believe michael learned that from joe to reach to be number one. and not except second place.

So, only MJ learned to be numero uno. Others learned to be deadbeats & bottom feeders.

NO not only michael, joe got the jackson5/the jacksons there by his belief never except second place, janet is very successful also joe instilled this in them at a young age. that is why the jacksons has had so much success in the business. and I believe the brothers can be successful now they have the fans base.

If I hear these words Joe talking about I want to PUKE! He's just thinking about money Money Money... nothing else... Michael is dead and he's just thinking how to get the next great deal... in the name of Michael... I think Joe didn't know that Michael was an artist and not a money-machine... If he's hearing the name "Michael" Joe will get $$ in his eyes... That's so damn sad! I understand why Michael was always vomiting because of his father. I can't eat so much as I want to puke...

It's ok if he's talking proud of Janet, but is Janet just good if she's making MONEY?
 
He will get what he deserves be it on this earth or beyond he will get it and no money in the world can save him from what's coming to him eventually. Pitiful despicable man

I feel so embarrassed for him also.

It's true when they say that "some" folks should be seen and not heard.

But I guess we shouldn't really be surprised, after all this is a man who spoke about his new record label and selling Blue Rays, a few days after Michael had passed away. At that point, I thought I had heard it all. After that, nothing Joe Jackson says surprises me.

I thought I was being fair, I could have gone in a different direction and said worse. I did say Joe was proud of MJ and Janet.. that was the whole point. He's proud of their success..success and money is what he's proud of..he thinks that's good. He boasts about MJ being the great superstar BUT like MJ said.. Joe was good as a manager but he wanted a father, just a father who treated him like a son... ironically similar to what Joe said about his own father.

I think you don't need a a$$**** as a father to become a wonderful Soul as Michael was. You are a soul like Michael was or you are not. The strickt hand of your father don't change you. Michael was intelligent, very much more than the rest of his family and he knew what's wrong and what's right...

Michael's wonderful soul was his nature and not the work of his father...
 
i'm not getting into condemnation. i'll just say we have Michael who doesn't love money. that's why he is successful. i see threads like this, and i am reminded of that. and i'm encouraged that the media has truly underestimated his success.

When Joe is in the public eye, he makes Michael look good because everyone feels sorry for Michael.
 
Ok as much as the majority of things Joe has done/said have irritated me beyond belief and made me say a few choice words in private, we do all have to still remember to respect the board, its rules, and to be respectful towards the Family as we are towards Michael. Now if you want to voice/object to anything Joe or any other member has said/done you can voice it, but there is to be no name calling, etc. Those are the rules, and until they change we all must abide by them.

That said, this thread is being closed due to the "insightful' nature of it as a whole. Thank you though to all who maintained composure and did not stoop to a low level in your reply.
