THIS Is It for local singer Mark Garthwaite as plans are finalised for his band to tour with Janet Jackson.
Having met the King Of Pop's father Joe at the Cannes Film Festival, his management is now in talks for his band, M4, to support Michael Jackson's sister and promote their new single.
As reported, the 26-year-old North Thorseby performer, who previously had success on the X Factor, flew to France to join Hollywood royalty at Cannes with his group, who are looked after by Michael's former manager Dieter Wiesner.
The boys – Mark, Glenn, Johny, MJ and Sparx – have just finished recording the video for their first single Music Of My Life.
Although they didn't get to meet Janet because of her busy schedule, they did have dinner with her dad and talked for five hours about the band's career.
Mark, a former Hereford School pupil said: "Before we set off we were all very excited, as we are with all our promotional trips. The first thing we did in the evening was meet Joe Jackson and we were mobbed by the paparazzi.
"We did interviews and sang for six TV shows, including MTV France, MTV Miami and French news stations.
"Sadly Janet was held up, but we talked with her dad about him putting us on the Janet Jackson World Tour, starting in July. We sang acapella for Joe and he said it was amazing, people just don't get that sort of privilege, or to tour with one of the most famous women in the world."
Mark said the best bit about being at Cannes was meeting Joe and, obviously, "chilling with all the Playboy bunnies at a pool side party.
The parties were amazing. We met movie directors, singers, football players, designers, it was incredible.
"I even saw Manuel Neuer, the German goalkeeper and also Naomi Campbell, who was standing having a drink.
"After Cannes we got a flight to Germany, where we had to appear at a few radio shows to promote the single.
"I am now in Grimsby for two weeks before we head to Vietnam to perform for 30,000 people and tour. We then have performances in Germany and a Bravo tour, along with radio, TV and more."
M4's single, Music Of My Life, will be released in stores and on iTunes next month
