Jermaine dissing Michael

Jermain wasn't dissing Mike.

Once you were made
You changed your shade
Was your color wrong?
Could not turn back
It's a known fact
You were too far gone
You know I tried to be there for you
Like a brother I care for you
It didn't matter you always play me off
You only care about what you want
You don't care about how it's done
You only think about you, your throne
Be it right or wrong

Thinkin' about that pie that you've been takin' from me
From a brother to another brother hard to believe
Lost and don't know it yet you still show it
Givin' seems to be harder than it is to receive
The glass has gotten shady, time to make it clearer,
Clean it up and lets start with the Man in the mirror.
Theres sadness? there brother, aint no mistaken it,
Get a grip cause youre not far from breakin it.
Thinkin about the time when we used to be close,
It shouldnt be past tense,? cause nobody knows,
What the future may hold, what tomorrow might bring,
Its not guaranteed that youll be spreading your wings

But meanwhile, I continue to smile, cause in the back of my head,
I know you're still a child
You say that your a man,? but that will never be
unless the day comes when you can lean on me

"... a lot of (Michael's) success has been due to timing - and a little bit of luck. It could have been him or it could just as easily have been me." - Jermaine
So ironic how I rediscovered this gem of a quote and it sparked a huge discussion/debate on my facebook wall just a few hours ago....

Are you serious? He himself admitted the song was about MJ...I wish people did some research before commenting. Makes you look ridiculous and ill-informed.

This is by far my favourite (and most vomit-inducing) line:

Thinkin' about that pie that you've been takin' from me

Jermaine was always jealous of Michael's success and tried to credit it to the Jackson Five whenever he got the chance. You can read more about this song and Jermaine's jealousy in Latoya's and his ex-wife Margaret Maldonado's books available on Jetzi.

It could have easily been u?.......:mello: Excuse me? I don't think so!

I always found it hilarious when he said that. Michael's success was due to him being a musical genius. No Jermaine, it could not have easily have been you...

Oh my God, this is like 20 years old now. People need to leave the past where it belongs, haha!

see I find that funny that you would say that..Jermaine did what he did and there is NO getting away from it. And NOW he is writing a book...he has his nerve I'll tell ya that much..he needs to STFD. and stop tryng to make money off of his deceased brother who he dis'd 20 years ago..Jermaine will always be second to Michael...even with Michael gone...he will STILL take second place.

It could have been said 100yrs ago... but, it doesn't take away the fact that he would say something that stupid, period! Trying to take away MJ's credibility as an artist to lift his bruised ego! Real Pathetic and sad for a older brother, that just couldn't be happy for his lil bro! :( I'm more then sure he still feels the same way too!

I have never heard the song but I had read the lyrics. I'm sure its something he would love to forget.

I just wanted to add...its one thing to have to hear bull from the tabs and the press and other people..but imagine being poor Michael..when his own bother unloaded this rant on him..imagin how THAT made him feel..his own flesh and blood ..jelous...that is a shame...so noone nowhere will EVER change my mind on Jermaine Jackson...yeah I bet he wishes that this song could just go away..especially now that Michael is gone..I bet he has regrets...but..know what..the damage was already done to Michael..he already felt the pain of that song from his loving brother....hmm...Jermaine will NEVER be Michael Joseph Jackson..not if he lived 300years...he could never touch Michael's success..and he himself knows it..I am NOT in the least fooled by that sneaky smile of his...it is obvious to see what is going on behind those eyes.

I am sure Michael heard worse behind closed doors. What makes this reprehensible is he tried to damage Michael publicly. I don't understand how he could have ever thought this was a good idea.

ha I always think Jermaine is quite stupid to release that song.
Yes, it definitely hurt MJ but it would hurt his career too.
People won't like to see someone badmouthing your own brother.
I have to say MJ was right about the song that he knew it would doomed Jermaine's career.
I totally have no idea how come Jermaine didn't know that it would backfire to him.
Maybe the jealousy overshadow everything.

On the other hand, melody wise, it actually is a not bad song lol.

This song makes me laugh because it's so pathetic. I laugh even harder when Jermaine says he's never been jealous of Michael.

I came to conclusion that Jermaine doesn't think before he acts, or speaks, like he lives in total different realm. Look at his life: having woman with same brother, cheating his wife, countless extramarital relationships, lived at his mama place for years, voiding child support, no albums, no concerts...
Sometimes, I shake my head, how Jermaine takes lightly MJJ success. Like it was not big deal, very easily could have been him..Hmmm, no sire: it takes a loooooooot of work, sweat, focus and perseverance, understanding and respect . If it is so easy to do...My question to him: :Well why didn't you do Jermaine...What stopped you..You have great voice, but unfortunately he opted to impregnate more women, and crying over J5 era."
We all know he was the ONE that left the group. He should just let it go. Even Debarge pulled himself together, and made an awesome album, and we know the man was a heavy dope addict for 2 decades.
I like Jermaine voice, but he messed up his own career. He can even hold candle to MJJ's work, and musical achievements. When I think, how much Michael suffered from his chronicle disease, burn scalp but still managed to make albums, videos, and give extraordinary concerts, makes me scream. This prick is full of nothing, but empty words.

We should NEVER let Jermaine forget these words. Never. Especially now, that he wants to make fans believe he's always been in MJ's corner with his upcoming book.

No MJ fans should buy that mess. He was never MJ's backbone.

Like i said Jerain wasn't dissing MJ. This was his way to show his brotherly love towards him.

With all this "Love", who needs haters? Jermaine was dissing Michael and he was extremely jealous of him..till this day. Quite obvious since he openly admitted it. Jermaine is pathetic.

I've always understood the song, as a cry out about the private relationship - brother to brother. How the career is takin' his brother away and changing him (from what he was used to), and how the career changed his brothers priorities. Jermaine has every right to feel his brother was taken away from him, if that is how he feels. Michael might see it differently - that's a very typical household discussion in loads of families, with one of the spouses having a bussy career.

my opinion solely!

He would stoop to anything to attract attention to himself....

Then, would you please explain this part of the song:

Once you were made
You changed your shade
Was your color wrong?
Could not turn back

Where in those verses do you read I love & miss my brother?

Back in 1991 when Black or white came out....the media was going hard after MJ for his skin color. And Jermaine in this ridiculous song, added fuel by confirming to the media that MJ had WILLINGLY changed the color of his skin.

Where is the love?

I was just being ironic with the whole non dissing thing. What Jermain did was pathetic and he has no excuse. When you have domestic problems with your family you solve them in the privacy of your house something that some of the Jackson's brothers don't understand apparently (see Latoya) .
Jermaine has every right to feel his brother was taken away from him, if that is how he feels.
I wonder how would you feel if your brother said all those things about you publicly. Jermain was jealous of Mike's success, he wasn't hurt because his brother was taken away from him. After all Jermain was the first one who left the Jackson in order to pursue a solo career, not Mike.

I think this thread should close.

...My question to him: :Well why didn't you do Jermaine...What stopped you..You have great voice,

Jermaine's voice isnt all that great, im sorry but he's singing voice wouldnt have given him the same success as mj had.

I don't think we need to have this discussion AGAIN.

Rocketman - glad you have been able to find 'proof'. But we are making a concerted effort for this section of this board not becoming a Jackson family bash fest. This kind of thread contributes to that.

Closing.
