Jacksons reality series to premiere Dec. 13
Show to focus on brothers preparing for tour, coping with Michael’s death

NEW YORK - A reality show miniseries about the Jackson family will premiere Dec. 13 on A&E, the network says. Back-to-back hour episodes will air that night at 9 p.m. EST.

“The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty” focuses on brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Tito and Marlon as they prepare to reunite for a concert tour. It also chronicles their lives as they cope with Michael’s drug-induced death in June.

There will be six episodes, the network said.

“This deeply intimate portrait will provide viewers with a raw and honest look inside a musical dynasty,” said A&E and Bio Channel vice president Robert Sharenow.

It remained unclear whether Michael Jackson or his children, Paris, Prince Michael and Prince Michael II (known as Blanket), will be seen in the shows.

The cable network had originally announced “The Jacksons” as a documentary special in May, before the star’s death. In August, “Entertainment Tonight” aired what A&E said was leaked footage from the special.

The 50-year-old King of Pop died June 25, weeks before he was scheduled to begin a string of comeback shows in London.

FFS!!!!!!!!!!!! I have no doubt they are mourning and missing Michael... but the cash registers have sure been ringing for them huh? jesus... have some class.

Wow.. this is really happening?

I remember reading articles about this, but I never thought they'd really do it.

I really really hope not.

when Michael died I thought they had had enough, I thought they were done, too upset to go back to the public charade that has always surrounded the Jackson family
...but it looks like they're over it yeepee! I mean who's gonna grieve forever? life goes on right? people die everyday
or maybe they're still grieving, but they do it in front of the cameras? maybe this is part of the healing process...money and publicity sure help in making the pain go away

Before everyone criticizes, I think some should take into account that the show has been filming for some time, months before MJ passed. This has been in the works for some time. I'm not gonna lie, i'll be watching.

um most of this was in production before mike died. they went back to tie up lose ends obviously b/c there can be no comeback tour if the lead singer has died.

Michael made it clear he was not going to participate in that reunion tour he released a public statement about it, he had an exhausting 2 year world tour ahead a new album in the works and so on and so on
the family is still clinging onto MJ's name every chance they get and they will continue to do so even after his death

I saw an official teaser for this a couple of weeks ago, but they have disappeard from YouTube now.
Jermaine talked as usual, lol.

How are they clinging onto his name? The last I checked their lasts names were Jackson as well. Are they supposed to change their last name now that Michael is gone? I also remember all of the brothers being part of a group called the Jackson 5 and later on The Jacksons. Michael didn't just suddenly pop up on the music scene with Off The Wall. There is a history there and the brothers are just as much a part of that as Michael is.

As far as I know, it's unclear if the brothers even KNEW about AGE and the reunion thing and all that mess with AGE and Frank. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I was following that case but haven't heard much about it lately.

And again as others in this thread have stated this show was in the works before Michael passed, and Michael had already stated that he had nothing to do with the show... they did the show anyway without him and it was fine.

Like what is the big deal? I could see if they were pulling a Joe, petitioning Michael's estate for an allowance or something, but they aren't. They have just as much history with the Jackson name as Michael does and have every right to have a show on A&E or anywhere else.

And yes. I will be watching. Just in case you were wondering.

YES they were filming before he died, the show was suppose to be concentrated around teh family preparing for the concert tour, a tour that they've been begging michael to do until the last day of his life!
what I was saying is that MJ has always been the main attraction and his family knows that. they kept on insinuating to the media that Michael was going to participate in this reunion until he finally said that NO he's not gonna do it

whatever they can have their reality show I don't care, but if it's gonna be based on "the family dealing with the loss of Michael" like they've been saying in the media that would be exploiting his name, this is not something to put on a reality show

I think some fans can be overly protective and forgetful that this is MJ's family and they need to move on with their lives just like the rest of us. I think it's just a couple of the family members that are really cashing in/milking MJ's death (Latoya and Jermaine) but this whole reality show has been in the works long before MJ's death. It's centered around them prepping for a non-existent tour. I recall Janet mentioning a long time ago that Randy, Tito and Latoya were in the works of their own show similar to X-factor but looking for the next talented family. I wonder what ever happened to that.

I've learned not to even bother going back and forth in threads because it's pretty pointless. I've just learned to either keep silent... or keep slient.

In any case, the trailers for the show say that the focus of the show is the brothers preparing for their little comeback. The family dealing with the loss of Michael is pretty much inevitable since he was their brother.

And trueiopian thank you. :)

I agree 100%

I will watch this show more or less out of curiosity. I think it would really give everyone an insight about how that family really works. For better and for worst, everyone's true colors are eventually reveal when you stick a camera in their face for any length of time, no matter how good the editing is.

Just ask Jon and Kate along with Bobby Brown and Whitney. We also cannot forget to mention Hulk Hogan and Ozzy Osbourne's families. ;D

HB, we are in the minority group, so we can shout if from the mountain top about how they have a right to do a reality show..
Many ppl on here say they need to earn their own keep, well they are doing it, and yet those same ppl are still complaining.. Their last name is Jackson and so they have just as much right to make money off their last name as anyone else. Hell Janet got by at first because of her last name, then she proved to the public she can hold her own, and now she can just go by Janet...
Smh at some of the continuous hate that is spewed towards MJ's fam...

Amen@Ramona... no matter how much it may seem like they are faking for the camera's after awhile that sh*t will get old, and we will see the real issues they have with each other, just like any other family..

I don't even know why A&E are even mentionning MJ's name in their press release since he made it real clear he did not want to have anything to do with the show. Just because he died doesn't mean his opinion no longer counts.

also they should stop exploiting the kids by giving a straight amswer. As their legal gardian stated a few weeks ago, they will not appear on the show...Just like MJ did not want to be on the show. They keep insinuating that the kids may or may not be...It should be illegal to exploit the kids for ratings.
It remained unclear whether Michael Jackson or his children, Paris, Prince Michael and Prince Michael II (known as Blanket), will be seen in the shows.

It should be clear to anyone with half a brain that MJ WOULD NOT have wanted his kids on TV. His mother & Marlon already stated the kids will not appear, yet A&E hopes to maintain some kind of confusion to help ratings.

On a positive note, Randy won't be in the show.

I will watch the show with a very critical eye...

Of course not, it is about the 'original' Jackson 5. No add on included, sorry Randy. :innocent:

Maybe its okay.. Maybe they wanna show us new sides of their family... ?
Keep an upon eye and mind... :)

It's going to be incredibly strange seeing the Jackson '4'...
