How true..Again anohter xample of a rushed attempt to get quick cash off of mj..Don't people realise that not every tribute HAS to be done asap...Why can't planning go into some so they look half good? Arghhh so much greed..People just see money signs and a quick buck...Ok bet had to do a tribute and did alot better than people give them credit for in terms of short space of time....Bo selecta COULD have been done 6 months down the line but not because it was badly organised..You can tell each scene and moment they showed took alot of effort and hard work...But still , WHY CAN'T PEOPLE WAIT??? ,This tribute is best example of how you HAVE TO WAIT AND PREPARE...

Jackson tribute 'badly organised'

Jermaine Jackson was among those organising the tribute show
The mayor of Vienna has admitted that the Michael Jackson tribute concert that was expected to be held in Austria's capital was badly organised.

Mayor Michael Haupl told the city's council the show would have been "very interesting... had it been properly prepared and organised but it was not".

Organisers cancelled the planned 26 September concert after struggling to find major stars to perform.

A replacement show has been planned for June next year, in London.

Vienna authorities had initially agreed to subsidise the tribute at Schönbrunn Palace and planned to give organisers 600,000 euros (£550,000) after city experts estimated the event's advertising value to be around 35m euros (£32.1m).

But the funding was pulled on 11 September when the concert's organisers - led by Michael Jackson's brother, Jermaine - failed to present the "top stars" promised to perform at the event.

Short notice

Vice Mayor Renate Brauner said, at the time: "The advertising value is unlikely to be as high as we had initially expected it to be. We will call off all talks with the organisers."

Later the same day, the concert was cancelled - with Jermaine Jackson admitting "numerous stars were just not able to change their schedules" at such short notice.

Organisers also blamed the Austrian media for the cancellation, saying it viewed the line-up as "B-List" artists, who were "made fun of and generally disrespected".

Artists Mary J Blige, Chris Brown, Natalie Cole, Sister Sledge and Akon had originally been announced as performers, however plans were dealt a blow when representatives for Blige, Brown and Cole later said none of the three would be performing.

World Tribute Productions said they were hoping to hold the rescheduled concert at Wembley Stadium.

Thanks for posting. I read the article and thought to myself. This is just great. If you know what l mean. I hope it doesn't turn the fans who will attend next year.

Doesnt surprise me. jermaine is a dick.

Glad to hear it will be in london where IT ALWAYS SHOULD HAVE BEEN.

As a side note. I bet Mary J Blige is not happy to be labelled as B-List. I dont think thats really fair to assign that grade to a legend.

this is so pathetic...so sad..

by the way - why does everything HAVE to happen in London? what's wrong with other european capital? London is not the center of the world

i woudlnt worry jerm prob just said it to cover his ass. if hes involved it wont be happening anyway.im sure they will all be fighting over planning something.

I don't wanna be too harsh on Jermaine..

But yeah this was pretty silly..

But why does everything have to be in London?

Because London is where Michael chose to perform the greatest show the world had ever seen, only fitting they honor that.

And no it doesn't have to be London, but it should be in the US or UK. I'm sure the fanbase in foreign speaking countries is huge as well, but the London and places like Vegas and LA, NYC etc, are the modern music capitals of the world. That's where the best show will be put on.

Hope they get everyone on this though. All the greats should want to perform, along with some modern acts who can dance like Usher, Chris Brown, Justin, Beyonce, Neyo etc.

I don't think Jermaine could arrange a piss up in a brewery. It was guarenteed fail from the get go. Sorry to sound harsh but that's how I felt from the begining. I feel sorry for people who booked travel in accomodation in good faith,

I totally think it should be in London and like it or not this is where it is happening. London is the city Michael chose to perform his last concerts at and it is right that his dream/vision should be honoured.

I love living in London!!!!

This is Michael's family for you, and now they are getting their hands into Michael's estate.
