Aww, 18 years.. he died the same year when I was born :( Rest in peace Freddie

Another legend gone too soon.. R.I.P Freddie.

Thanks for the reminder.

What a unique, one-of-a-kind, performer Mercury was.

He never had to resort to the vulgar, perverted antics on stage to sell his music that many of today's superstars practice.

Putting on 'Live At Wembley 1986' & 'Live Magic' now.

RIP FM.

That pic you posted of him with his head is my favorite.
I love his voice. He's the main reason I like Queen.

Can't believe that was 18 years a go :( I love Queen and my mom was in love with Queen and in particular Freddie... she knew exactly how I felt when Michael died because she felt the same way when Freddie died :(

Why do the great performers always die to soon?

I still remember the day he passed away. There was Queen music on the radio for hours. I couldn't believe that this incredible voice was no more. :(
18 years ... time flies by.

He's my second favourite artist of all time after Michael. I love him!

They were the first big western rock band to give a concert in my country, Hungary in 1986. I was too small to be there but my father was and he said it was awesome. Freddie also sang a Hungarian folk song, which of course was a huge success:

Freddie Mercury Day - on what would have been the Queen singer's 65th birthday - has been celebrated with a new Google doodle on the web giant's homepage.

In the animated Google Doodle, Mercury is shown singing on stage in front of screaming fans, sat on a throne wearing a crown and dressed as a woman, and strutting about with a hoover.

The accompanying video, over 90 seconds long, is set to 1978 Queen hit Don't Stop Me Now.

Queen guitarist Brian May, writing on a special Google blog, said: "Freddie would have been 65 this year, and even though physically he is not here, his presence seems more potent than ever. Freddie made the last person at the back of the furthest stand in a stadium feel that he was connected. He gave people proof that a man could achieve his dreams."

Doodle designer Ryan Germick added: "The video has a lot of fun, goofy stuff to celebrate what an incredible song writer, fashion icon, and musical innovator he was."

In another celebration, London's Dominion Theatre is hosting a West End Summer Tea Party For Freddie For A Day with a rare chance to view Mercury's personal stamp collection In aid of the Mercury Phoenix Trust.

The Dominion, home of the hit musical musical We Will Rock You based on Mercury and Queen songs, is joining in by recreating for the day a famous Freddie's birthday - his 40th birthday in 1986 when Freddie threw a Summer Garden Party and welcomed close friends to the lawns of his Kensington lodge house, all of whom had been previously told to "wear a hat".

There will be special footage of Mercury on a specially installed video wall and a stamp collection courtesy of The British Postal Museum & Archive.

Car manufacturer Lotus has produced a one-off Evora S in honour of Mercury. The coupe, painted pearl white with red and gold accents, features the Queen frontman's signature. The cabin is yellow as an homage to Mercury's 1986 stage costume and the seats feature a Union Jack.

The car will be auctioned off for charity as part of the celebrations tied to Mercury's 65th birthday party at the Savoy Hotel. Proceeds from the auction will go to benefit the Mercury Phoenix Trust, an HIV AIDS charity founded by bandmates Brian May, Roger Taylor and Queen manager Jim Beach after Mercury's death. The event will also feature donations from May and Taylor as well as Top Gear, watchmaker Raymond Weil and the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

I remember seeing those pictures for the first time and hearing the songs they did together and I was just in shock.
That was like a dream come true, my two favorite male singers together. I love it.
Can't believe he would have been 65 already. I love reading the stories of them (MJ&Freddie) together.
(Can't seem to find them right now though) The one where Michael goes backstage at the queen concert (probably from those pictures) and when Freddie visited Michael at the Encino house.
