They took the plane to play an icehockematch but they didn´t get far.I´m not sure what happened , newspapers here say it crashed into a pole at the end of the runway. One player survived.
Young, healthy,strong men are gone.
Children have lost their fathers.
Wifes and girlfriends have lost their men.

I´m not sure if it is the team they were going to play against who did this tribute

It´s big news in Sweden, because a popular swedish goalkeeper,Stefan Liv, died.
The Icehockeyleague haven´t started in Sweden yet but there was some friendly games where he was honored with a minute of silence, candles, pictures. Some close friends to him just couldn´t manage to play at all.
There were other players from other countries in Europe Pavol Demitra,Karel Rachunek , Jan Marek , Josef Vasicek.
Icehockey world is mourning

This is very sad. It is such a senseless loss of precious human lives. My heart goes out to their friends and family members. I so hope our government will draw conclusions out of this tragedy for the future. I hope that more attention will be paid to the safety of people *sigh*.

I mentioned that same news on the NHL thread.

Unfortunately, the only hockey player who survived the crash has died in hospital. Sad.
