Yeah.. It didn't last long though.. But the Dangerous era was BOOMING!! That was one of the best marketing strategies ever..

Yes..BET played the video like every20 min, the 30th ann special commercials were every where....but after the album was out...ehhh.......but its michaelmaia all over again...i can feel feet thumpin and voices roaring..its comin dont even worry

this IS an era...an era of fans complaining about lack of production. hell, im sorry but he went through a lot of bs this 'decade' ya know? his marriage fell apart, he broke his leg, he was dealing w/ sony drama, lack of promotion killed his album but it still went diamon (woot woot), he had another child, and then the blah that became the trial and lwmj.....

so when u put it all on paper, mj did hella much this decade.

ya this 00s its been not a good era ..sorry name one thing that MJ has done good? to me just 2001..after that nothing good..

I think getting vindicated from a very very serious trial that took away 3 good years of his life (and more) is good enough. Too bad it's not for you. Meh. lol

Yeah its good, but the fact that it happened isn't. Fans should stop moaning about Michael doing 'nothing'.

Its like they don't realize how much stuff Michael has actually been through. It's like people expected him to walk out of the courthouse, into the studio and into TRL to debut his new video. Forget that hes human why don't you.

Exactly give him a little time to breath. Some people take the longest time to get over even the simplest of things. So even if Mike hadnt started recording or working whatever till 06 or 07 or even later b/c he didnt feel ready after the trial until that time.................

Well we're living in the Thriller 25/Michael turns 50 years old/Michael finally releases a new freaking album ERA, so enjoy it while you're in it because I reckon it's the last!

:)

Yes definitly, I really miss Michael performing and making great music. Sure I have all his albums and other old school music to listen to but damn I can't help to think the music industry is missing something. Everybody in mainstream sounds the same. There is no unique sound or talent. I really want Mike to come back. I just really want GOOD music to come back because it sucks now.

The Dangerous era was awesome, I remember it well and I wasn't even really a fan then. I remember quite a bit about the "Bad" era as well and I was only about three or four. I used to watch the morning cartoons and I remember all the videos and the Moonwalker movie.

I remember Dangerous videos got played so long some of them bled over into the HIstory era. I wish I was a bit older back then. I remember few, if any music videos from the time. Yet I remember all of MJ's pretty vividly.

I really hope the new album is marketed correctly and is able to get some heavy rotation on TV and radio. It's been a good 12/13 years since he was heavily on TV & radio. You Rock My World did okay, but without any follow up the Invincible build and hype just quietly died. I think we'll get a new era, you just have to stay positive.

Is the marketing really that important though at this point? I don't disagree but my thing is this... Michael is big even through all the B.S. his enigma remained and it'll always be like that. Commercial Michael Jackson though, will never be like it was back in the 80's early 90's and I don't know why some fans won't accept that. This is not necessarily because of MJ's issues but because the industry has changed. Stevie Wonder and Prince still make some pretty descent music. Its not as good as their early work but its descent enough to the point if people exactly wanted to listen to it, they would. None of their albums are as marketable as if they were in their peak. It doesn't appeal to the younger audience because music now is about "image" not about REAL music.
Mainstream music and what we call "popular" music today is pure garbage. I want Michael to stay true to his art and not do whats current just to get a hit. I don't want him to get to mixed with the commericial aspect. I just want Mike to make great music like his known for. To me, how the album is market would be a plus but most importantly I want the music to be good. Who cares about hits, singles, etc. MJ has nothing to prove. I just want Michael to sit down write, create, and innovate music. Thats really what its about.

I think that Michael is planning something really unique. I wouldn't be surprised if we some some kind of James Brown tribute song on this new album. I think he is gonna make this era all about the soul.

I'm not asking for 30 million record sales and the like.

But, Michael is an exception. He's the biggest celebrity in the world. That can play HUGELY to his advantage. While Stevie Wonder and Prince may not be able to penetrate pop culture anymore and their days of huge marketability and owning the radio waves are mostly over, MJ is different. His albums sales of greatest hits compilations are proof enough.

If he chooses to just quietly release an album.. hey, it's no big deal. I enjoyed Invincible a great deal and still do to this day. But I would like to see some music videos and some surprises.

Just because people voice some things they would like to see doesn't mean they expect it or demand it. I'm just a fan and hey, the more MJ the better. I'd love for him to prove his detractors wrong. If not, that's fine too, it's ultimately about the music.

However, nowhere did I ask MJ to conform. MJ has always been an innovator. If you were just making a general statement, that's cool. I just hope you didn't interprest my post as me hoping MJ fits in with today's artists because I hate most of today's mainstream artists you hear on the radio. If MJ did a music video, I would want him to make a unique and cool music video, not some throwaway video. It's just what I hope as a fan, not what I expect.

And this is not directed at you personally, but rather a general statement: I don't think it's any more wrong if a fan hopes MJ releases an album with huge videos, marketing, radio play, concerts, etc. than for a fan who hopes he just does whatever he wants. We're all fans here, right?

I know I want the new era to start.. But we're on the verge..

Think of it like Captain EO times.. lol!!

Or L.A. Gear times..

ummm! Or, MJ & Friends time.. lol!

Raising his children, getting inducted to two Halls of Fame (Rock & Roll, Songwriter's), being acquitted of a stupid trial, his re-re-re-release of "Thriller" sold over three million worldwide, he's still getting paid through MIJAC MUSIC and ATV and doing SOME music.

I say he's doing alright. I could give a damn about an "era", lol. We don't live in the album era anymore.

Well when you're supposedly working with guys like Akon, Will.I.Am and Ne-Yo (supposedly), I think you're already thinking about marketing, lol. But other than that I just wonder if MJ even wants to do all that. It'll be real cool if he did tho.
