i saw a beverly hills woman dig a soda can out of a garbage can

so, what kind of economy would it take for you to dig an empty soda can out of a garbage can to save money? it's not just the homeless who do it.
i haven't done it, but i live in los angeles and i know what i saw.

People here in LA are recycle crazy. At both my jobs people watch you like a hawk so they can get the bottle or can that you are drinking from. When i lived back east people wasnt into recycling like that.

I don't get it? What to they do with an empty bottle?
We just have to recycle and pay for it if people come to pick up the garbage.
You have to pay more if you have more garbage.
They pick up the biodegradable waste one day, plastic bottles and all that stuff another day and all the rest yet antother day...
If those people see you put something in the wrong bag, they don't take it with them.
