I did a quick search on Human Nature and looked through 5 pages of nothing I am looking for. So I am assuming this hasn't been talked about a lot, or at least recently.

Human Nature.

Obviously not written by Michael, but is expressed through his interpretation. The guys from Toto wrote it. And I have always really been attached to the lyrics, and to the way Michael sings it.

Lyrically, I don't know if there has been an analysis of HN, but I would love to see one.

What is your take on the song both musically and lyrically? What do you think Toto was trying to say or paint in this song? Obviously there is no right answer, and everyone will have their own interpretation, but that is the purpose of me starting this thread. I want to see what you have to say!!

I want to do a breakdown eventually, but I have class in a moment and wanted to start this thread and maybe get some ideas beforehand.

Remember to just "tell 'em that it's human nature"!

From what i gather from it lyrically is basically a guy lusting after a girl...or trying 2get 2 her using metaphors 2 express his feelings. "4 walls wont hold me 2nite" interpreted that as in nothins stoppin me from gettin that girl and if people have a problem for me lusting after this person just tell them its human nature. "see that girl, she knows im watching, she likes the way i stare" , could mean the girl he wants kno he wants her but is playin hard 2 get..like she knows im watchin and she likes the way i stare. Its human nature for girls 2 play hard lol

i gotta alot more but im lazy lol

These are good ideas! At first glance, that is what I saw also. Just the lusting part. The male attracted to the female and saying that it's just human nature.

But there are other words as well that when I read the lyrics separately, I get another vibe. Like the writer is giving two images. The city, first and foremost. And then the girl. I also like all the lines having to do with the city life. And a city love. "If this town is just an apple, then let me take a bite". I like that line and the whole first verse and what it means. I also think Michael can really relate to the first verse on a personal level. Plus the whole "apple" New York City reference there, so we are talking about a specific city. I love that.

You look out your window at night in a hotel, you see the city lights all glowing bright. The city never sleeps. "The city winks a sleepless eye". He hears that low hum the city makes and he wants to get out and go out into the night. The city literally calls his name.

Then the chorus. If people ask him why, it's only natural that a human would react like that. A city can be really illustrious, specifically at night with all the neon lights and the glitz and the glam that comes out.

Then in the second verse, the city gives him an object to look at. The woman who seems to be just as fast paced as the city. The electric eyes part seems just like everyone he sees is carefree, having a good time, enjoying the city. And he is merely observing.

Very good ideas you guys, I must admit I'm a terrible fan and never put too much thought into the song, so I feel really enlighted with all of this.

Keep it comin.
