I was in Las Vegas eating in the Forum Shops (their massive mall) within Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. When the news broke, I've never seen that mall full of people come to a standstill if was incredibly sad and surreal. Nobody was shopping, everyone was gathered around tv's and shortly there after the crowd of literally thousands in the mall thinned out by 3/4. I went to the sports book where all the massive screens are for sports betting and they put one massive movie theatre sized screen on CNN and their were literally thousands of people watching the telecast they put on the largest screen in stone silence. Nobody was gambling, it was like the world stopped.

As many have visited Vegas it is an international city, visitors from all over the world and clearly representatives of all over the world were in shock and sadness. It speaks to how big this man was.

Its great all he has given us, but like many I felt the best was yet to come and yet we will never see it. Heartbreaking.

my coworker is in vegas right now on vacay. she thought i was joking when i texted her cuz i sent her one about farrah earlier. she called crying wishing me well

i told her to toast to mike and to have fun for him. go out jackson style tonite on the strip! it's just a shame that people/media never saw how much he was love duntil he was gone

Wow, he was such a special person. Why couldn't people show him the love when he was here? He deserved it more than anyone. It's tragic.

I'd love it if we could start hearing more stories like this tonight. I'm thinking it's gonna be a long night here in the US, or anywhere actually.

Just to add to the story. 2 things:

1-I stopped by another casino afterwards called "The Orleans" and their casino lounge had a band playing and they were performing Michael Jackson songs. Again that lounge was jammed packed and people were standing up surrounding the lounge loudly clapping after each song. The performer made a point to thank Michael for all his inspiration after each song. Again, it tore at my heart and others.

2-My waiter at the Spago restaurant in Caesars said that he's seen many celebrities walk through the halls of Caesars Palace, but nobody comes close to when Michael Jackson came through. He said people were literally jumping over the decorative iron gate that divides the mall from the restaurant just to get close.

he will be remembered in death as he should have been thought of in life ... finally the pain is over for him. he is no longer tormented by his own life.... the news has been a shock and painful but it is comforting to see him acknowledged as the influential artist and humanitarian that he was and is to all of us. as his fans, we must remember to keep his legacy alive and safe. our pain must be transferred to that cause. we will hold his legacy up and keep the faith in the future of his children... they deserve that

thank you all for your combined strength ... thank you to all of you for being here and holding eachother up in this time of great ... in this time of ultimate devastion, my heart goes out to all of you.

thank you for being an MJJ Community !!

keep the positive and uplifting stories coming ... the media is watching us now more than ever. Make sure the public gets the truth about what he meant to us ... his legacy is in our hands.
