How Come Janet has never worked with Quincy?

I mean, MJ worked with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Wonder why Janet Never worked with Quincy Jones, He did know the whole family. Would have been interesting.

I'd say she did work with Quincy since she and LaToya sing on PYT. The Jacksons as a group have never worked with Quincy, nor has Rebbie or Jermaine. Janet wanted her own sound, that's why she went with Jimmy & Terry as she was a fan of The Time. She did some stuff with Jesse Johnson (who was also in The Time) on her 2nd album. In general, Quincy was kind of an "older" sound and worked mostly with acts with a 'mature' audience like James Ingram. He was not someone who was popular to the youth audience Janet was a part of at the time. Also Jimmy & Terry (+ Monte Moir) were most likely cheaper than Quincy at the time as they were just getting established and was mostly known for working with R&B acts like the SOS Band. They blew up with Control the same as Janet did.

I think it as a lot to do with the fact that Quincy Jones is well known for working with Michael. Jones worked with some big named stars from Jazz to hip hop, but the most famous person he has worked with is Michael Jackson. Sometimes a big name artist like Janet Jackson will not work with other producers who are known for working with other big named artist. And like what someone said above, it has a lot to do with the artist having their own style and ego. The percecption could be that Janet is trying to capture the magic that Jones and Michael had. A project with Jones and Janet could be doomed from the get go by naysayers. Janet is by far the biggest artist to work with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Her entire career with hit making albums have been with them. You really don't see them working with other artist like they have with her because they are well known as her producers. A lot of producers will produce a song or two for some artist, while they are with with a bigger named artist but sometimes the ego of a big named stars will prevent them from doing a major project with other artist. Also the record companies have a lot to do with picking the producers of an artist.
