help help who knows what to do here

i have an issue i cant get to the internet anymore with my laptop now i put an old windows 98 on for a few minutes to ask pple on the net what i can do to fix this but this thing keeps crashing so if anyone nows what to do please tell me
its not the internet cable or modem since it works on this old computer but there s something with the connection of the laptop its a new one working with vista
i did klick several times on makeing new connection etc and nothing happens i probably can only work with this pc briefl;y so the sooner someone can help me the better since most of you are pc wizzkids

explain clearly whats wrong hun
are you on wireless router for the internet if so what does it do ?? as in what light's on the router are flashing it may well be different to the one im using so im just trying to establish a picture so i can try and work this out

does the computer boot up ??
