Okay... I'm curious...

I was just watching Michael's performance of Human Nature in Yokohama and I just started tearing up. xD Like free fall crazy tears... I was sniffing all the way through it half because I miss him so much and the other because I just got so overwhelmed by his brilliance.

It's totally understandable why people get so emotional watching him perform on stage when I was literally whimpering behind my computer screen just because of watching him. :D

I remember how the Man in the Mirror music video and the Bucharest performance cemented my fandom for Michael two years ago. I think all the emotions and energy Michael give his audience plays a large part in his charisma. It draws people to him like no other. Like it feels really good to know that we're all connected in this energy.... It really hypes me up and make me so emotional at the same time. Also, I think the fans play a large part in making a concert exciting. All the fainting in MJ's concerts are hilarious... :p

So, my question is have you ever gotten so overwhelmed by Michael that you just started crying? I'm especially curious to hear from fans who saw Michael live in concert. Did you cry? xD

Prior to June, maybe once or twice. Watching Earth Song performance especially...so powerful...

Since June, way too often to count.

It's interesting how I've cried plenty of times before when I was watching Michael before his death. I just get so caught up with all the emotions that comes from watching him perform... and then I just start crying...

I've cried watching him perform One Day In Your Life and many ballads before... and especially the connection between him and the fans have also made me cry. It really touches me.

Have anyone else cried watching him perform before his death just because of simply being overwhelmed?

Maybe I'm just a crybaby......

i watched some of him perform in d.c. and when i saw some gangsters cry, i cried too. it was during man in the mirror.

afterward, i cried after watching an earth song performance, where a guy was pulling a gun and a child put a flower in the gunman's face. i couldn't move.

i think that the right thing for him to have done, is lip sync the first part. not because he couldn't sing it, but because, it fit with the inspiration of the performance, as he moved all over the place. then, after the song finished, he sang ad libs to the song, live.

sometimes, lipsyncing is the artistically right thing to do, just because. sorta like singing some songs off key, saying look over your shoulders honey in i'll be there, mispronouncing lyrics, for artistic merit, etc.

that whole performance, in it's entire configuration, as is, really shook me up.

good points... when he chose to lipsync and then followed that up with his ad libs, it made them that much more powerful. I also don't mind the lipsyncing because Michael put his all into the performance, which for him means so much more than singing. I think Dangerous tour had a great blend of lipsync vs live singing. seems like This is It was going to have a good blend too.

but this is going off topic...sorry

to the OP: some performances were more emotional for me than others. Earth Song and Man in the Mirror as we've said. Will You Be There too.

Seeing him in concert I was totally in tears... Happiness, emotions - well I cried like a baby (well, actually, I kinda was, it was 1996, I was 11 ;)) Some ppl are making jokes of all those fainting, screaming fans you can see especially on Bucharest dvd or in Brace Yourself - I saw it and myself needed help from paramedics (I didn't fainted, but totally conscious couldn't stand on my own legs) - it's all emotions. If you add to it, that Michael's fans are mostly very sensitive ppl - those pictures are clear:)
Prior to June there were few performances, which almost always made me cry, like Earth Song, I'll be there, Will You Be There... After June I found myself crying even watching TWYMMF.

Yes, I usually cry whenever I hear I'll be there, Man In The Mirror, Will You Be There (especially when he talks at the end) & Earth Song. I also cried when I saw him performing Billie Jean, his dance moves kill me.
Edit: I forgot to add Stranger In Moscow.

Oh YES, definitely. I have cried for his brilliance and the love he exudes on stage... the synergy of his spirit combined with the lyrics and the melodies and moves and his energy and love...my God it's a thing of beauty and magic..enough to bring anyone to their knees.

And of course, you can't help but shed some tears over the fact that he's not here to do what he does best anymore...

And off topic but LoveMJackson, I love your siggy..gah he's gorgeous

hehe I know! I love my siggy too. Yours is pretty amazing too!

When MJ was with us, the only times I cried watching him was when I saw him live during the HIStory tour. I don't think I ever cried watching him on TV. It changed after his passing, now I cry all the time, that's why I don't watch MJ footage often...

YES ALL THE TIME!!

oh yes. And there is one song that really gets me emotional. Its "The Lost Children" I cry every single time. I was prob like that before June but now I will just break down if I hear that song. Same with "We've Had Enough". Some songs are still hard for me to listen too.

Yes I have the entire 96 World Music Awards on tape. I taped when it was shown on tv back then. And every single time I have watch Michael performing Earth Song. I just really start crying. Which is why I no longer watch it because it just tends to make me cry too much. And that is one of my favorite MJ performances too.

Oh gosh yes that Human Nature performance has had me in tears many times. He looked so perfect - just divine and other worldly. I had that same feeling when i watched him rehearse Human Nature for TII. He gave such a powerful vocal performance and i broke down in tears because it hit me that he was no longer here with us and he still had so much to give. I also couldn't help but compare Michael from that Yokohama concert to Michael during TII and it broke my heart thinking of all the pain and heartache he went through between that time frame.

When he performed Will You Be There for MTV'S 10th Anniversary show - the end speaking part ALWAYS gets to me!

Absolutely - cried at concerts through sheer excitement and emotion of seeing him and being part of it all. Cried at subsequent performances - She's Out of My Life, and like ^^ the speaking part of Will You Be There! oh man!!

Watching concerts (especially the This Is It rehearsals and the o2 announcement footage) always make me cry, they make me realize I will never get to see him on stage in person
Earth Song, Will You Be There, Man In The Mirror, Heal The World often bring me to tears. One More Chance often does too, and suprizingly the end of Ghosts when Michael is banging his head into the ground has also made me well up in the past :(

I don't think I did before June.. but since then, oh boy have I? ..I just wish I had the chance to see him perform..

Well I cried during the WMAs and that wasn't even a proper performace.. it was emotional though... I think it was the first time he was back on stage since all the crapola.

Since his death sometimes I cry when I see him singing as a child in the Jackson Five. Its just like wow, look at little mj doin his thing, he is soo special even at that young age he was entertaining the world so brilliantly, and he was doing this travelling around at an age when most children have never spent a night away from their mother/father.

Other than that.. Man in the Mirror makes me tear up even just hearing the song [since it was used when the brothers brought the casket into the Staples centre]. Earth Song, Heal the World, songs like that are pretty emotional but I don't think I cry anymore. OMG wait - You Are Not Alone - definitely I cry like a baby!

Yes, I get very emotional watching Michael perform. I've never seen him live, so I can imagine what that had done to me...But, yes I see his performing as spiritual and magical, and he just had that ability to bring out those emotions in EVERYONE ...even if you've never cried watching Michael perform, it had to have brought out some emotion, no matter what...

Oh yes. Definitey. If I don't cry, I always have the urge too. His performance and presence sort of overwhelms me in a way to the point where he has me in tears. Michael has that effect on me. Crying as far as being sad about Michael, yes I've done that also.

Nooope.

I suppose I get a little bit "emotional" with the angel part in Will You Be There live performances and the credits of This Is It.

The performance in 1993 for superbowl where Michael holds something and points at the stadium and the crowds just turn into pictures of cartoon kids and sings We are the world.. Whenever I heard children sings this song.. I'll just tears.

And speechless snippet in This Is It rehearsal

amygrace,
Your siggy took my breath away !! Did you do it with PS Image Ready ?

Heal The World always made me cry... Always.

And Human Nature and I'll Be There on This Is It. Never will anyone be able to express such deep emotion as he did while performing.

A couple of times..

I couldn't hold my tears back during the ceremony on TV..
Especially when Stevie Wonders performed..

I remember a time when I was a kid..
Can't remember if it was Legend Continues, but I remember it played
music and me at the end, and started crying..

The first time I remember crying to any song ever was We Are the World, when it first came out. I totally cried. It just moved me that much. That was also the first time I ever made a charitable donation.

And of course there were several times I cried during TII. I watched it at the theater and just once at home so far...cried both times. And I'm sure I'll cry every time I watch it. :(

Anymore, depending on my mood, I will cry when I listen to Whatever Happens, You Are My Life, Smile, and You Are Not Alone...just a tear or two, not like sobbing or anything. But I do get choked up when I hear him sing certain things.

Smile-knowing it's his favorite song.
Elizabeth I love You-seeing all the love for her written on his face just does me in.
YANA-I was listening to it oddly enough when my Grandam died from cancer in 1997. My sister called right after telling me.
