My cousin Melia who now lives near Seattle, WA (born and raised here in Portland, Oregon) just sent this funny email

Cracks me up because it's so true!

THIS IS WHAT JEFF FOXWORTHY HAS TO SAY ABOUT 'LIVING IN OREGON !

If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and they don't work there, you live in Oregon .

If you've worn shorts, sandals and a parka at the same time, you live in Oregon .

If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed the wrong number, you live in Oregon .

If you measure distance in hours, you live in Oregon .

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you live in Oregon .

If you have switched from 'heat' to 'A/C' and back again in the same day, you live in Oregon .

If you install security lights on your house and garage but leave both doors unlocked, you live in Oregon

If you can drive 75 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without flinching, you live in Central, Southern or Eastern Oregon.

If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a 2 layers of clothes or under a raincoat, you live in Oregon.

If driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow and ice, you live in Oregon .

If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction, you live in Oregon .

If you feel guilty throwing aluminum cans or paper in the trash, you live in Oregon.

If you know more than 10 ways to order coffee, you live in Oregon.

If you know more people who own boats than air conditioners, you live in Oregon.

If you stand on a deserted corner in the rain waiting for the "Walk" signal, you live in Oregon

If you consider that if it has no snow or has not recently erupted, it is not a real mountain, you live in Oregon.

If you can taste the difference between Starbucks, Seattle's Best,Black Rock, and Dutch Bros, you live in Oregon.

If you know the difference between Chinook, Coho and Sockeye salmon, you live in Oregon.

If you know how to pronounce Sequim, Puyallup, Abiqua, Issaquah, Oregon, Umpqua, Yakima and Willamette, you live in Oregon.

If you consider swimming an indoor sport, you live in Oregon.

If you know that Boring is a city and not just a feeling, you live in Oregon.

If you can tell the difference between Japanese, Chinese and Thai food, you live in Oregon.

If you never go camping without waterproof matches and a poncho, you live in Oregon.

If you have actually used your mountain bike on a mountain, you live in Oregon.

If you think people who use umbrellas are either wimps or tourists, you live in Oregon.

If you buy new sunglasses every year, because you cannot find the old ones after such a long time, you live in Oregon.

If you actually understand these jokes and forward them to all your OREGON friends, you live or have lived in Oregon.

He forgot to add a how Oregonians don't understand all the hubbub about the city called Wanker's Corner, Oregon. AND that we have NO idea how to pump our own gas!

But yea, he has us down pretty good!:wild:

I actually think he meant the Pacific NW (includes Washington State) But Washington at least knows how to pump their own gas!

But then again, I USED to live in the CITY called BORING, Oregon! It is near Damascus out towards Estacada! LOL

LOL.. omg sounds like Indiana:p i remember playing this weird computer game in school back in the 80's called ''Oregon trails''. it was the worst, most boring game ever!! you would travel in old wagons in oregon and go nowhere. anytime i hear oregon i think of that game.
arrrgh

I remember hearing about that game ^^ but never played it. Glad I passed. LOL

He writes:

I've never done that ^^ however when out and about walking in the spring, you often have to wear sunglasses and have an umbrella open because it's raining and sunny. And often when I drive, I'll have to wear my sunglasses while the windshield wipers are going.

He never mentioned how many of our homes and outdoor things have A LOT of MOSS on them. Every spring, many of us are outside clearing off the moss on the house, front porch, roof, grass, swing sets etc.
And we don't use SALT on our roads for ice or snow therefore our cars don't rust out. However, we do get MOSS on our cars!

There's a funny saying here: "Oregonian's don't tan, we RUST instead! LOL

Seriously.. I think we are having the wimpiest summer since 2006. Tomorrow we MIGHT hit 90F and it's about time! LOL

That is so..... Wisconsin! We have like 9 months of winter there and the rest is road cone season...seriously! :mello:

That is so funny!

Not sure if you heard about our HUGE massive snow we had back in December 2008 , but it was a record breaker for almost the entire state. In In the Willamette valley, aka Happy Valley or Rose City Oregon (Portland Oregon) it was such a mess. We even had SNOW on our beaches.. people were silly and surfing on the cold Pacific ocean - wish I could find that vid from KATU. It was called "Surf, Sand and SNOW!"

My low clearance car was STUCK inside the garage for almost 2 weeks (I live in Portland). I did folks a favor and stayed OFF the roads - man when all that stuff melted we had HUGE amounts of gravel all over that took MONTHS to pick up. My car has pock marks all over it due to the gravel. I guess it's better than salt cause my car would not hold up to that.

Watch this hilarious video complete with Benny Hill Theme Music. This took place just 10 minutes DRIVE from my home, near downtown Portland, Oregon. In the video below, this is just before the REAL crap hit us!

Here is a bit of what it looked like in my little neighborhood and why I kept the car in the garage (actually I had no choice.. snow was just too deep!)

The snow just keeps coming and coming (this was for a Christmas video for our family in the UK and in the US)

Portland Oregon folks are just NOT used to snow. We love seeing it on Mt Hood and St Helens but we suck at driving in it here in Portland. We just don't get enough of it year after year to get any good at it.

Cindy, my coworker is from Oregon, he tells me stories about Oregon everyday. It's gotten to the point where I just go blah blah blah blah when he starts talking, lmao. He keeps telling me how beautiful the state is. I've promised him I will go to Oregon with him sometime this year. I hope we can meet. I would love to see the twins, how old are they now?

SMJ!!!! You crack me up.. always have and always will. I miss chatting it up with you on Paltalk and MJJF days! Your friend is right.. it is pretty here with lots of mountains.. not lump hills like some US states have, and we have over 150 waterfalls and our beaches along the Oregon coast are 95% PUBLIC ACCESS unlike Cali and Washington. I LOVE the BEACH most of all. Astoria and Seaside only a 50 minute drive from me.. but my most fav is farther down south from me called GOLD Beach, Oregon but dang! I might as well just keep on going to Cali. It's just north of the California border.

Weather is decent here through the summer with very low humidity, even through the month of October.. but wouldn't you know it?.. as most often, ON THE NIGHT OF HALLOWEEN it almost always decides to RAIN! LOL

Oh and Oregon does not have SALES TAX. I think we are like 1 out of 3 US states that do not have sales tax. Now if you're talkin' property taxes.. like what I pay on my little dump? It's rediculous!!!!!!!!!
