Heya can anybody tell me what kind of things to eat and drink that wont cause my teeth to ache as my jaw is bruised. Thankyou so much, and also suggestions for chaffing between cheek and brackets.

hm..I had a list somewhere but I can't find it(I HAD braces). But you should get a list from the orthodontics.

i had braces...but actually i was not a good girl and asked the doctor to take it off before the progress was over..(well even so i had it for like 3 years)
i remember drinking yoghurt when my teeth hurt a lot

aww, hugs, getting braces sucks. I had mine put on last year. Do you have them on the top and the bottom, or just the top?

lets see...for chaffing, you should try putting wax on the brackets. You could ask your orthodontist for some, but I know they sell dental wax at most stores. I usually just buy it at Walgreens or something. it's kind of annoying, but it really helps. As for eating, I would just try to stick to softer foods for a while and maybe take an Advil if the pain gets too bad.

awww...I'm actually getting mine removed on saturday after 3.5 years!!! YAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!

OK on topic:
For food. stick to soups and soft pudding-like stuff for the first week, it'll hurt like hell otherwise, specially trying to bite things off (I still can't bite apples).

For chaffing, as WritergirlAD said, wax, is a must and you should always have it around, you never know when it'll start hurting and you won't be able to go to the dentist.

The pain will go away in one week at the most, and later, after each appointment it'll hurt for about two days (It did to me), that's all within the first 6 months or so, then it won't anymore.
The chaffing is a constant thing though, so try to always keep wax.

wow y'all are wussies! lol j/k

take advil BEFORE u get them tightened.....and for spectators' sake, don'teat a damn hamburger or anythingu have bite into full-blast....

no taffy or sticky candy and even bubblegum that gets harder the more u chew it...no caramel and don't crunch ice or lollipops cuz that can pop the brackets off.

i didn't raelly enjoy the wax too much, the chaffin in the front will go away after awhile, it's the back brace on the last tooth...if the wire is too long, it'll hurt like hell so make sure they'r enot longer than the bracket.

oh and NEVER get clear bands cuz they show EVERYTHING you've eaten in the past mo.

Thanks guys, just had quad helix put in top of mouth it hurts a bit not as bad as expected though, but i will be eating soft stuff like scrambled eggs etc.

ahhaaha your just like me! I had them in 2003 for the first time till 2005. 'Cause they told me they had to remove 4 molars :bugeyed! I was scared and young so I had them removed.

They look good bij the way, they just wanted to remove them to make space or something  whatever..

custard, ice cream, mashed potato, yoghurt, cooked tomatoes-but don't put them all together lol can't remember what else i ate at the moment but if i think of anything else i ate in the first week i'll update, good luck!

awww you guys once the thread started moving loads of advice, cannot thank you enough, mwah, love you.

I had braces when I was 9 years old. I had them for 3 years. I could say that I was extremely lucky because it was really an ideal case. And it didn't cost my mom anything. It was totally free. My front teeth were really bad, like a bunny. On one of the first times that I went to the dentist they took out 7 of my baby teeth.
I had to go through a lot, even a tooth surgery when one tooth wouldn't fit in so they cut it out and now I have one wisdom tooth in the back replacing the one they took away. Also my molar tooth switched places with canine tooth. I'm a dental freak. :tease:

oh man, the pain I felt those first few days when I tried to bite into stuff was the worst I've ever experienced....

I used to have them and I can still remember the excruciating pain I felt during the first few weeks. It would hurt so much that it would wake me up in the middle of the night. I just wanted to rip my teeth out! lol
