Yes, getting somebody's heart started does not equal 'alive'.
MJ's heart was restarted but even if it was able to sustain it's own beat, he almost certainly would have been severely brain damaged and unable to lead a normal life. Probably similar to being in a coma. I believe his heart was beating but he was already brain dead by that point.
