With 20,550 online votes tallied, the story of Michael Jackson's sudden death has been voted Fox411.com's top entertainment/celebrity story of 2009, taking 47 percent of the votes.
Tiger Woods' infidelity scandal came in second, with 24 percent, and Susan Boyle's rags-t0-riches drama was third, with 11 percent.

Wikipedia buckled temporarily after hundreds of edits were made to Jackson's page. Across the Internet, more than 24,000 Jackson collectibles were offered for auction or sale. Jackson was crowned the King of Pop back before new media helped crack the monolith of radio pop into innumerable subgenres, from hip-hop and house to praise rock and adult contemporary. But the old-media monarch showed, one last time, that he still reigned: the world stopped for him for a few hours on June 25.

Second place in the poll, by mobile phone recycling company Home Page — Phone Piggy Bank was the Swine Flu outbreak, followed by the ongoing recession.
''Michael Jackson was a huge star and loved by people of all ages," a spokesman for Home Page — Phone Piggy Bank said.
''When he died, it was a massive shock, especially as he was due to perform his live shows just weeks later.
''Everyone was waiting for his big comeback, but instead we were watching his memorial service.
''It was a tragic story and one that many people will remember when they think back to 2009.''
Fourth place in the poll of 3,300 Britons was Jade Goody dying from cervical cancer at the age of just 27 on Mother's Day.
After being told the diagnosis live on the Indian version of Big Brother, the reality star filmed her battle with the disease and her wedding to Jack Tweed before her death in March.
Barack Obama moving into the White House to start his job as President of the USA was voted in at number five followed by the MP expenses scandal which has rumbled on throughout 2009.
During the second half of the year, X-Factor dominated most conversations and came seventh in the poll while Katie Price and Peter Andre's very public and bitter split was at eight.
