J.Lo's Stunning Career Reincarnation Puts Her No. 1 On The Celebrity 100

Then in 2010 the singer landed a judge’s chair on American Idol. The job gave her a platform to promote her music and turn her image around. It didn’t hurt that she also split from her husband, Marc Anthony. Suddenly a single mother, Lopez lapped up the media attention and scored lucrative endorsement deals with companies like L’Oreal and Gillette. She now has a line of clothing at Kohl’s, a top-selling fragrance and she was able to secure a nice bump—to $20 million–on her Idol salary for a second season. With 6.6 million followers on Twitter and 12 million fans on Facebook, she’s also proved a master of social media.

Jennifer Lopez is number one on this year’s Forbes list with $52 million in earnings, knocking Lady Gaga down from the top spot to fifth.

Justin Bieber, Venture Capitalist: The Forbes Cover Story

This story appears on the June 4, 2012 cover of Forbes.
One can forgive him for the victory dance. Since his debut three years ago Bieber has sold 15 million albums, grossing $150 million on 157 tour dates across two dozen countries along the way. His biopic, Never Say Never, pulled in $30 million on its opening weekend, just shy of the *concert-film record, and racked up $100 million at the box office in total. His fragrance, Someday, debuted last June and did $60 million in retail sales during its first six months on the market. Those income streams helped Bieber personally earn an estimated $55 million over the past 12 months and $108 million over the past two years.

Even more impressive than Bieber’s earning power: his vast social media reach, part of the reason he ranks third on this year’s Celebrity 100 list. Bieber boasts 21 million Twitter followers—more than any person on Earth not named Lady Gaga. His 43 million Facebook fans are more than Mitt Romney’s and Barack Obama’s put together. With 740 million views, his breakout ballad, “Baby,” is the most-watched video in YouTube history; if you assume three minutes per song, his VEVO channel’s 2.4 billion impressions are enough to provide one minute of video to every person on the planet.

Justin Bieber: 'I model my career on Michael Jackson'

Bieber told Forbes magazine: "I mean for me it's only one person. Everything that I do is kind of modeled after Michael Jackson.

Out of curiosity, did Michael ever made to these Most powerful lists?

This is not about the world´s most powerful celebs, but only the US.

I am really pissed off that everything American is considered as - worldwide, wtf... there are also other coutries, continets and the US doesnt mean worldwide...
Forbes totally ignores Asian artists with the 3 billion inhabitants potential and Europe and European celebs earning millions of euros.

And J.Lo?
What the hell...

What makes a celebrity "powerful"? And J-Lo Nr1? That just shows the credibility of such lists.

Really? Kim Kardashian in the top 10? What did she ever do... besides sucking d*** on tape?

I absolutely agree with you.
I never really paid attention to wording The World's Most Powerful celebrities.
Do they mean that the most powerful... is the same as most face time on tabloids and earned the most?
They really should change it to Americas most powerful....bla bla blaaaaa.
I skimmed through that list, can't see 95 of them having any sort of power outside of their own country

justin bieber also said Jackson's Bankruptcy-starving investments was the thing he understood best. i notice they left that out.

It's always nice to see a fellow Puerto Rican do well. However, J.Jo still annoys me now more than ever. It used to be that her sub-par singing bothered me and constant romantic comedies but now I have to see her every other minute in TV commercials selling one product after another or "judging" on American Idol every week (and giving even the most lame performances a pass) and her face and body is on every magazine cover. How much money does a person need to make? When is enough ever enough? Same goes for the Kardashians.

The only people I view as "powerful" on this list are Oprah, Tom Cruise and Spielberg.
