'Faking Michael' Podcast Out Now

Episode 12 is now out.
This is the episode where things really got interesting for me. Most of the previous information I was aware of, this episode... 🫨

When they refer to the fans being arrested, is this the same event that became the server hack that was reported all over the world?

Yes, it's about the Sony server leaks (cannot call it hack, as they didn't hack anything, just used a vulnerability of the system).

Yes, but it was reported as a hack. This was the first time I've ever heard it referred to as anything other than a hack. It's disgusting the lengths that Sony, the Estate, the Cascios etc all went to in order to cover up the facts in this case.

I can't put my finger on it but I'm sure that in time, once the truth is fully revealed, this case and the recent Cascio developments will be one in the same issue.

It doesn't make sense that the Estate, if they genuinely believed in the songs and genuinely had nothing to do with their creation... Why haven't they sued Cascio and Porte for the highest level fraud in music history?

Because then they have to admit they bought music with fake vocals, and that makes them look incredibly stupid. Basically they have to admit they are not able to recognize Michael's voice... I think Branca just can't bring himself to do that.

Damien said there were 12 Cascio tracks and 6 unreleased MJ demos that were being sold around the time of the Sony server leaks, do we have a list of all the songs that came from the servers? Around 11 Cascio tracks were leaked and I can only recall 4 MJ demos that leaked (The Loser, DIG, HT, and POTW). What songs are we missing?

The Way You Love Me - Demo Mix

Probably the sixth demo is The World Is No Church, as it was listed on circulating stuff 12-13 years ago. I have the list on my personal laptop.

I know I’m regurgitating what others have already said here, but damn, this podcast really changed how I look at Teddy Riley. From scrapping Michael’s planned bridge for Hollywood Tonight, and replacing it with his own because he wanted royalties for the song, to directly censoring the line “[…] because she’s only 15!” on that same song because he personally didn’t like it, man…

What you mean?
A lot of random stuff from the server links. Some Laura Mvula stems, a random Monster energy logo, some Jimi Hendrix stuff, and others. I quit downloading stuff when I seen some of the links may have linked to their current active server.

No way that was captured. Do you have any actual proof?

I can send the links. I am not responsible for downloads of questionably obtained stuff. You can't tell what the files are before you download them and there are over 3,000 saved links.

We simply don't know if he did that because he 'personally didn't like it'. It could have been a request from Sony or even the Michael Jackson Estate. The podcast naturally attributes the blame to Teddy Riley because he was the one who mixed it. Yes, he definitely pushed the buttons to delete that line, but was it solely due to his individual will? Hard to believe.

Why would Sony or the MJ estate have that line censored in Hollywood Tonight, but choose to preserve the very similar line, “[…] who’s only twelve years old!” in Do You Know Where Your Children Are less than 4 years later, though?

Michael couldn’t trust NO ONE. That’s not even an exaggeration.
Didn't Taraborelli say that everyone he spoke to for his book on MJ wanted money and that had never happened to him while researching any other celeb before... of course, T says this all while making money off MJ himself with his unauthorized bio.

MJ wanted fame but apparently "Fame costs" and he paid the ultimate price for it.

"A fascinating, meticulously produced and timely deep dive into another facet of how, for some, money motivates all else.
It is also a reminder of how so much in Michael Jackson's life—and in death—has been mired in unjust controversies.
MJ became an ecosystem of wealth to many."
My sister says MJ was his own "cottage industry", but she really means conglomerate. After 15 years, he's making more money than most acts today. Ecosystem of wealth is an understatement, but MJ made poor friend choices that's for sure, esp. after his Thriller fame...

Backbone mostly.

I do enjoy the podcast series a lot but it is true, i have to agree most people here, that the repeats are a bit overwhelming. I'm like Ok, so how many listeining sessions were there now with the producers, experts, taryll etc? Only one? Or more than just one because it keeps getting mentioned so often? Information are getting presented again and again and a big chunk of each episode is "what you heard in the last episodes" and then "what you will hear in the next episodes".

But in Damien's defense, the topic is so complex and so many characters are involved. I wish there was an easy to understand timeline of all the events. But this is maybe part of the book? It is very difficult for me to follow the real events in this drama.

Also, some people changed their opinion at different times about the songs, right? I am confused about this. Great investigation but maybe too complex to fully understand it with listening it the first time.

episode 9 was hard to hear.. it's literally like "as you heard in episode 4" all the time xD

At least the podcast makes it crystal clear that (financially) disappointed people affiliated with Michael Jackson are capable to lie about practically everything with a straight face..

For those who still did, there is no reason left to believe Wade and James just on their word. Facts don't lie, people do.

We thought the bank of Michael Jackson closed on June 25 2009, but unfortunately, it just reopened in a different location. Its so mindboggling that people dont understand the whole eco system and economy that major stars like Michael bankroll. People will do and say anything and everything to maintain the lifestyle that some one else's money provides.

Yes! But this podcast is important since it shows that in the end the truth will prevail. That's at least something positive to remember during all this madness..
