A few days ago I got to speak with director Kenny Ortega for Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” as a reporter for our partner’s at Omelete. Since Ortega has spoken at great length about the project to other websites and media outlets, I tried to ask some news questions. The main thing I wanted to know was since they had shot around 100 hours of footage when documenting the rehearsals, how much additional footage could fans expect to see on the eventual DVD/Blu-ray. According to Ortega, we’re going to get between two and three hours of additional footage. He also told me it won’t be added into the movie like a director’s cut but will be part of the extras section. And for people wondering when it’ll be released, he says early next year. Yep and he said it will be released in early 2010, watch the video on the website :)

I will look at the whole 100 hrs if I get a chance. lol! But 2-3 hrs is not enough for me. Can they release a second DVD some time with more hours.

I want to see BAD, History and anything Michael did so that I can feel closer to him. I want to see him as a Kid as well. Is anyone listening to us?

i have been told that the blu ray will have more extras than the reg. DVD

I would rather they take there time, and extract the best footage for Blu-ray rather than rush it out for Christmas. Something to look forward next year.

You know what, I'd put money on it that somehow the footage would get released (or accidentally leaked out) eventually. Whether it be months, years...or even decades I could see it happening eventually.

I'm thankful for whatever, but I gotta wonder if "they" will dish it
out a little bit at a time or just stop with next years release.

yes but this should be released for the cult MJ fans cause if hanna montana can top Michael Jakcson, Michael has become into a cult artist...(which is better) its not commercial anymore, and who needs him triunphal these days when to be successful you need to be a young talentless girly girl...

wow, well that is something to look forward to... additional 2 to 3 hours with michael, I AM BUYING IT... Regardless, i went TODAY to see This is it AGAIN, but this time on, IMAX... wich was so much better... so much....

2 - 3 hours!?!? :D I hope that includes the Dress rehearsal, soooo wanna see Billie Jean performance in the costume.

I couldn't even bare the idea that This is It is all the new footage of Michael that we'll ever see??!! :( So thank God there's going to be more..... :dancing:

Let's write to Kenny, do an MJJC petition for the complete footage to be made available....even if it's done in segments over the next decade :D LOL

i thought it was only running in cinemas for 2 weeks cos it was going to be released on dvd b4 xmas,,,if not then why only a 2 week run?

Omigosh 2-3 hours! That's uh-mazing! You better not be lyin' to me, Kenny, I'll hunt you down! LoL. Wow. (But I don't think they should be talking about any of this while the movie is still in theaters. I don't think they should have even announced DVD release dates. I'm afraid people will just wait til then since they know for sure it'll be coming out.)

It seems like the DVD is going to be released early next year. I know that China is supposed to be having the run of the movie extended since it is doing so well there.
