download you tube video's

Thanks for the site.

Here's how Safari users can easily download YouTube videos (or any online videos for that matter):

1) Go to the page containing the video you want to download.

2) Go to Window is the menu bar and bring up the Activity window. Or press command+option+A (mac) or ctrl+alt+A (windows).

3) The activity window shows everything that is loaded on the webpage you are viewing. Scroll down to find the video you want to download. You'll know it because the size will be much larger than everything else. Should be somewhere in the megabytes.

4) Double-click on the video once you've found it and it will download to the default download location that you've assigned for Safari.

I use Vdownloader, which can be used for several sites, not just Youtube such as Daily Motion, etc. Vdownloader is a program downloaded to your computer, so you don't have to go to a site everytime. It can also convert to DVD format (as well as other formats) so you can burn to a DVD. Converting to DVD format takes longer than AVI, MPEG, or audio only to convert though. It's easy to use and free.

when i press cmd and a it highlights the entire page in orange...is it normal ?

The one I use is http://www.keepvid.com. You can download it in either flv format or mp4 (quicktime) format. The mp4 files can also go on your ipod, so you can save music videos and movies and automatically load them onto it (as well as play them in quicktime on your computer.) :)
