"In the villages of Bulgaria’s breathtaking Rhodopi mountain range you’ll find many beautiful doorbells and all of them ring with a bark. Most linger on the end of three foot chains with no shelter. Others are locked away in barns or out buildings. And almost all of them are surviving on the scraps of moldy bread thrown at them every couple of days.
“We call these the Bulgarian doorbells,” explains Candy Sasse who cofounded the charity called Colonel Angels Bulgarian Street Dogs along with fellow animal advocate Annie Moran. “The dogs’ sole purpose in life is to alert their owners when they have a visitor. The majority are not wormed or vaccinated and often have to live in piles of their excrement while the flies drive them mad.”......................

There is a rescuegroup working for the dogs and people are going to start an education program for schools..there is hope for the future
But another sad thing is that dogs are treated like this in other countries too, people in those countries should know better.I suppose it doesn´t matter where you are in the world, there are always bad animalowners
