hi guys i need your uplifting support on this,i spoke to my mother on the phone this morning, and quickly brought up the michael jackson concerts to her,i always feel very uncomfortable speaking about him to my family, who i am very close too.my mother ,i am sure not meaning to be horrible, said that i am crazy, and i should have grown out of this fanatical stage years ago.i am 33yrs old and have been a michael jackson fan since i was 13yrs old,he,s part of my life, nothing is gunna change that, also i have a 10yr old daughter, who is also an mj fan and i will be taking to the concerts with me,my mother said i hope you arn,t taking her,i said why?i completely understand her concerns ,london is a big place, and there are lots of people going to be there and it would be easy to get lost, but i,m not stupid i won,t let her out of my sight.
i just feel abit upset today,i just need some kind words,
thanks sarah.

Hey, I can totally relate to how you must be feeling!
Sometimes, my friends say I'm "weird" or crazy or whatever for supporting him so much, whilst he's being bitched about by them, and yes, it does make me feel upset because they're supposed to be my friends, but then again; I couldnt care less!!

Don't worry about it, and remember that there are MILLIONS OF OTHER PEOPLE AROUND THe GLOBE WHO ARE JUST LIKE YOU.

You're not alone!! So don't feel alienated by what your mum said; she's just looking out for you :).

:) xxx

So true, you are NOT alone. Being a fan is something most people don't tend to "grow out of." There comes a point when it's probably better not to talk about your fandom to people who don't understand or support it, or who make you feel badly? Can you just set that boundary with your Mom? At thirty-three, you are surely an adult! Or, your other choice is to keep trying to gently explain to them WHY you are a fan?

As far as London being "a big place?" in terms of your safety and your daughter's? London is very easy to get around in. There are good maps, and the subways ("tubes") are easy to use. Plus, you will undoubtedly be around other fans. I'd say that this is not risky, but just be careful not to get caught up in the big and chaotic crowds, such as we saw last night when Michael and kids went to the theater. Some fans can be wild, and the paparazzi push and shove quite badly sometimes. Michael is used to it over the years, but those kinds of crowds CAN be scary. Not hard to avoid them if you keep aware of your surroundings, though.

So go in peace, and have FUN!

thankyou guys for your replys,it always helps to speak and listen to other people who feel the same as me,my problem is ,i always think to much about what other people think, which i know a shouldn,t let it get to me,plus they have never liked mj much since the court case,
they are just like everyone else who reads and listens to the news they believe everything they read, and don,t want to listen to reason,

You're welcome. It's always good to remind people, too, that Michael was acquitted on all counts by a jury in the American legal system. The legal system here doesn't always work, but in this case. . . . .it DID. If you have the stamina for it, you could try educating people about the difference between tabloid "news" and genuine news? Otherwise, try not to stress too much about it and just enjoy the return of MICHAEL???

peace,

Victoria

Hey!! Hope everyone's good today!

The 'crazy MJ fan' thing...yes I'm called that by all my friends and family!! In fact, I only know about 3 people besides you guys on here that don't think that I'm mental for liking Michael! When it came to it, I didn't mention the tour to my mum at all, or MJ for that matter. I let her bring it up! And guess what...she said she'd come with me! Couldn't believe it! I wouldn't worry about it...your mum's just looking out for you and your daughter. My parents are exactly the same. When I went to the WMA's I only organised it all on the day, so had no-where to stay or anything. I was almost 19 at the time, and had bought a ticket without thinking about the practicality. My mum was really worried, and immediately rang my aunt and uncle, who said I could stay with them (they live in Bromley, just outside of London) and they paid for a taxi to get to theirs from Bromley station late on the night. You know how important this tour is to you and your daughter...just be safe! I know you're an adult and it's completely ridiculous that i'm saying this to you, but your mum's probably worried (parents always are of course) more about your safety and that of her granddaughter, so let her know exactly what you're doing, where you're staying etc. if she mentions it again. Also, the 02 is large but not that huge that you can't arrange meeting points for your daughter if she did get lost for any reason. Don't worry about it, the bottom line is we all get the 'crazy MJ fan...why??' talk.

thankyou ,it always helps to hear what other peoples experiences, your mums going with you ,thats great,

What I find is so funny is some of those people who laugh at my fandom (one of whom is my brother-in-law) are now asking me to get them tickets.....how wack is that!!! Im worried enough about getting my own let alone anyone else's and I certainly wont be getting them any.

yes that is funny how people who supposedley don,t like him are now coming out the woodwork.

Well my family knows me for always being a bit crazy, in fact I think that's why a lot of ppl love me.
But what's even more important, they all do respect me!
That's simply what I expect from ppl who wanna be a part of my world... family or not.

Don't worry about it hun. My family thinks I'm just an over obsessed MJ fan aswell. Sometimes I even think I'm a little too obsessed. But you know what? MJ's music has helped me through a lot of tough times in my life, he's inspired and helped so many others, and I feel honoured to be a fan of his. He has been through hell and back, and he's still alive, everyone thought he was going to crack and he didn't. Michael is truly UNBREAKABLE. Your family and friends attack you because they don't see him in the same light as we do. If Michael's music became the soundtrack of their lives, they would love him too. So if everyone calls you crazy, then so be it. At least you have a good taste in music LOL

thankyou steph and all you guys that answered in this thread it really does help me to feel better hearing other peoples stories.

actually, im like you as well. also, my family talks crap about him on purpose when im around..ach, can't help it.

yes it,s like tonight i,ve been looking at coach trips and hotels, ready for if (fingers crossed i get concert tickets)finding out prices and what not ready for the concert.i was telling my dad about it,we had a good conversation up untill he said, don,t talk anymore about it,i can,t stand mj,I know this is only a little thing, because not everyone has the same likes or dislikes, but even small things like this upset me,i,d rather them not say anything about michael at all,

hope you all don,t think i am to over sensative.

Not to my face, but by the way they change the subject immediately if I ever even remotely mention something about him. Many moons ago I learned it's just not worth the aggravation anymore. My friends and family are usually reasonably intelligent except when it comes to Michael, and refuse to delve into educating themselves about the media, Michael, etc; as if doing so is prepostorous.

There are people I work with that will ask a question about the authenticity of some really bizarre MJ rumor/article, but they still walk away shaking their heads at me if I attempt to clarify anything.

Ultimately each to his own, irritating/infuriating as it may be. For me, it's easier on the blood pressure to just let it go.

My daughter is an avid MJ fan, basically I am trawling all sites to make sure any info I can get will assist in getting tickets. Myself and hubby have always listened to MJ and never really cast any opinions on his private life, that's not for us to judge. Plus I believe he is a good man and most of all a genius. I feel sad though that fans were not offered presales and that the people who have mocked and evilised about MJ will be there at the same level in attempting to get tickets, to me that doesnt seem fair! I remember the days when musicians had fan clubs and those fan club members were always given first choice on tickets............. oh yes and the days when the fans were on the first few rows and not the corporate drunks....

rant over

good luck everyone, I am praying hard the fans are able to get the codes......

........BTW Sarah, we have been taking our kids to concerts since they were about 7 yrs old - health and safety is a lot different now plus we all have mobiles if we get lost and always make reference to a meeting point if we do. Kids need to learn how to handle themselves in these places etc and taking them to concerts sets them up good for the future when they go alone.
