I can't believe that!

Michael really started working early on with this track!!

Ps: Take note that that's the earliest found, but who knows how far it goes back...

I have nothing smart to add in here, I just have a tendency to walk in to threads that has Dirty Diana in the title...

Is there a demo?? :wild:

Makes me more positive that it was written with Diana Ross in mind :shifty: we know how much he flirted with her in the early years. :') bless.

No, some friends of mine and I have been doing extensive research on my forum and you can see it in Michael Jackson For The Record... It's unbelievable! Michael registered the track himself. And he did so many updates on it. 1983, 1985, 1986... He really worked it over!!

He was writing Liberian Girl back in '83 as well. He mentions it in the "unauthorized interview".

Amazing.

A lot of people say Bad is Quincy's way of creating a Thriller part II, but if you look at it, Michael is a mastermind of music... He writes, writes, writes and is smart enough to SAVE what he writes... He then goes back to it.

Heck, a prime example is Little Susie - he wrote it originally back in 1979.

Yes! I was going to say the same thing!

Wow really! That is incredible.
Where do you find all this kind of information?

I HATE how people give so much credit to Quincy...

Someone actually said to me that Quincy created the bass line in Billie Jean... I  in her face... Quincy didn't even like Billie Jean when he first heard it. And last time, I checked Quincy can't dance either so I dont know why people say Quincy's responsible for the Thriller and Michael mania in the 80's.... Thriller mania started because of the music videos Michael created and then Motown 25 came into picture...

I'm not giving credit to Q. I'm saying what others say and then saying what I know about Mike.

LOL - I know what you mean though!

Thanks for asking Luci :)

I've done extensive research for a book with a few friends on Michael's music and we talk about it on the michael jackson vault... I'm just a big collector as well so i've studied this stuff.

friends of mine chris cadman and craig halstead are geniuses on michael's music. (LOL they're authors that's why i gave their last names lol)... But anyways, they study this stuff for a living and introduced me to this bit of info.

Wow you helped with research for that incredible book? How cool. My main hobby is collecting every book on Michael. Many are just shear cash in ones, while there are several good ones i refer to. This book tops my collection. A guy named James Whitney is referenced and said to have written several demo's for Michael in 1976 what cool info to have researched.

Woah, Little Susie was originally written in 1979? thats incredible. Michael really was a master :)

Your right, Quincy didn't create the bassline for Billie Jean. Quincy's only part in composing Billie Jean was added the string section to it. Many producers like George Martin add things to The Beatles songs etc, it's not uncommon. Just that many people who no nothing about Michael and think they know everything, think Quincy Jones wrote every song on Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad.

It's also overlooked that the songs Michael wrote/composed on Off The Wall and Thriller were also co-produced by Michael, and Michael was the sole music and vocal arranger on all the songs he wrote for those albums.
Quincy's biggest change in Billie Jean is cutting the intro to the song, as it was too long. And the actual 12'' version of the song with the extended lyric is the original (which I'm sure many of you know). I don't think Quincy Jones never liked Billie Jean, he just thought it was too long and that people might think Michael was singer about the female tennis player Billie Jean King.

I do know that Quincy Jones did not like the song Smooth Criminal and that he and Michael had heated arguments over having the song on the album. Considering Michael wrote all but 2 songs on Bad, it's also overlooked that the Bad album was co-produced by Michael. I have heard that Michael practically produced Billie Jean himself, and it does sound like it when you compare it to songs he produced like Heartbreak Hotel and Morphine which have and number or different arrangments and are quite orchestral in their sound.

Couldn't agree with you more. And that guy James Whitney is one lucky guy!!! Yes the book is incredible!!!!!!!!!!1

.

YES! After June 25, a friend of mine was talking about Michael and said something like "Eh he didn't write any of his own music." I became incredulous! I laughed in his face and was like "What?!?! Are you serious?!?!" I rattled off about 10 famous songs and gave rough percentages of the writing credits of entire albums; the person was just like, "huh, wow, I never knew that" blah blah blah. I was just like "Of course!" People's ignorance astounds me.

I know ^^ The are so many ignorants out there. I always give them that super long speech...

Didn't know about Little Susie either Dirty Diana. I am not very huge fan of Dirty Diana but Little Susie is one of the best songs ever! Thanks for information. :)

there must be a demo for all songs for sure

dirty diana for sure also exist as an early version but i think nearly noone has that
also never heard of that

i would like to get a mix without the fans screaming :D

Thanks for the info. A lot of people think Dirty Diana is about Diana Ross also.

I heard that Remember the Time is about Diana Ross. Have you heard this?

Yeah, I love the infamous "He wouldn't have been sh*t without Quincy Jones". As much as Quincy is a fantastic producer, it's also arguable nobody would give a crap about Quincy without MJ. And I also find it incredible that people gloss over Destiny and Triumph, two fantastic albums that had no Quincy involvement.

MJ and Quincy were a great team, but damn people overrate the hell out of what Quincy's role was. I think a lot of people are under the impression Quincy composed all of the material too.

Quincy can't dance either
Dancing ability has nothing to do with making music. Many of the groups/singers that make dance music such as Kraftwerk, Donna Summer, or The Art Of Noise don't dance at all.
