Def Jam Poetry

this was a GREAT series on HBO! Ran for 6 seasons I think. Most of the people on the show were poets ('def poets' 'slam poets' 'street poets' i've heard a few different terms) but every show Mos Def and Russell Simmons (the hosts) would invite a celebrity singer/poet to recite one of theirs.

When the series was on, I didn't immediately think that Michael needed to be on the show. But I can definitely imagine Michael wearing a dark suit and eyeglasses and recite something (maybe Planet Earth?).
 
Hell yeah, it woulda been amazing. The theater woulda collapsed from all the heat and noise he caused! How many had the kind of experience of watching and hearing him talk in such an intimate setting?
