Michael Jackson Was the Baby Daddy!

by Joal Ryan

Now that Michael Jackson has been laid to rest, it's time to bury something else: the baby-daddy story.

Michael Jackson was his children's parent. He was his children's father. For all intents and purposes, he was the baby daddy.

Time to move along, folks. Nothing to see here.
What about Arnold Klein? What about Mark Lester? What about Macaulay Culkin? What about them? Culkin was dragged into the story by a denounced British tabloid report. Time to move along, folks.

And even though Klein and Lester thrust themselves into the story with talk of their generous contributions, so to speak, there is still nothing to see here.

Klein and Lester, sperm donors though they may be, are not dads, daddies or baby daddies. They are, as Stephanie M. Caballero, an attorney specializing in reproductive law, explained it to us, "genetic contributors."
"If you have no other documentation, or no other action that shows you as the parent…then you're not a daddy," Caballero says.

True, anyone can challenge anything—sperm donors have even sued for custody. But when we asked Theresa Errickson, a surrogacy lawyer, whether she could recall any instance in California, Jackson's home state, in which a sperm donor prevailed, she said, "Not that I'm aware of at all."
So, to sum up, the law favors the parent. The parent being the one who is parenting. Like Michael Jackson was.

"The public wants to know who quote the 'dad' is," Caballero says, "but legally Michael Jackson is."

By all accounts and appearances, Michael Jackson's three children aren't confused about the arrangement, either. They are his children. He was their father. Those were their tears they shed after his death. If someday they want answers as to the particulars of their DNA, then that's their right.

But until that day, and maybe even after it, we don't need the record set straight by anyone other than Prince, Paris or Blanket on something that isn't crooked. Even Klein and Lester have essentially acknowledged, if not celebrated, Jackson's fatherhood.

In the end, there is no mystery. There is no scandal. There is no story.
Except there is.

Last month, a British tab—consider the source—quoted Lester as saying he made a sperm donation to Jackson's parenting cause in 1996.
This week, Klein attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told E! News that his client, who has acknowledged donating sperm to a sperm bank, but hasn't denied said sperm produced Prince and Paris, would like "input" into the two children's education. A story that shouldn't have lived hasn't died.

"In general, you are supposed to remain confidential," Errickson says of sperm donors, adding of the reputed Jackson ones, "Now I think it's like they're trying to get their 15 minutes of fame." It's about time for the clock to wind down

Ed Hardy designer to move into Michael Jackson home

Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier is reportedly moving into the Holmby Hills estate that was home to Michael Jackson and his three children before his death on June 25.

Jackson didn't own the home, but was reportedly leasing it from Ed Hardy CEO Hubert Guez. Jackson's lease will expire on December 15, 2009 and Audigier will be taking over the rental property.

Audigier was reportedly in talks with Jackson over a clothing line collaboration, of which Michael had already signed off on over 100 designs, including a rhinestone glove design and a red Thriller jacket.
Jackson was finally buried earlier this week at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California

2001 - Michael Jackson performed a special concert to celebrate his 30 years as a solo artist. He played a second show on September 10th.

2004 - Several court documents from the Michael Jackson child-molestation trial revealed details of some evidence that had been seized from Neverland Ranch. The following items were to be admitted into evidence: a dozen computers, a camera, videotape recordings, a tissue, books, bags, various paperwork, an audio cassette recorder, a cassette titled "Earth Song 6-8-89," keys to the master bedroom, an envelope, print ads, a letter, and a case with phone-recording equipment. Other items that were likely to be supressed: photographs from the Neverland arcade, additional photos found in a safe, a book on robotic dogs, a November 2003 calendar, a Garden City Hotel bag, medicine bottles, a medical log and daily entry logs for the ranch.

I am so tired of all the stories about whether they are his children or not. It is ridiculous and disrespectful. They are biracial, they aren't supposed to look like what Michael Jackson looked like because unlike their father, they are half white.

I can honestly say I see Michael in Prince and his mother Deb too. Paris is all her mother but an obviously mixed version and well Blanket, do we even have to go there? Blanket is a replica of Michael 43 years ago.

I'm so annoyed at what the tabloids and attention seekers have been drilling into the public's mind. I don't think they would appreciate this type of questioning with their own children.

Official Michael Jackson Trademarks

Many of the late Michael Jackson's companies are represented by a law firm from Atlanta, 'Greenberg Traurig'. Among the companies are 'The Michael Jackson Company LLC' (TMJC) and 'Triumph International Inc' (TI). Both companies are wholly owned by Jackson's Estate.

TMJC just registered the trademarks for "This Is It", Jackson's planned series of London concerts. This means that we can expect more official items coming related to the production.

The same time TI applied for the trademarks of Jackson's well known signature, as well his name, the Neverland logo, the "Moonwalker" logo, the "King Of Pop" and "MJ" titles to use them for merchandising purposes. TI neither any of Jackson's companies owned these for a very long time.

Now 'Greenberg Traurig' wants to erase all the third party, unofficial trademark owners citing confuse of the consumers. They filed a petition at the "United States Patent and Trademark Office" on August 17, 2009, that the office granted yesterday. This means that from now on Jackson's Estate can file legal actions against the ones using any of the above mentioned trademarks without their permission.

In the meantime 'Sycamore Valley Ranch Company LLC', the company that owns Jackson's former home along with his Estate filed for trademarks to open a museum and other entertainment services on Neverland.

Neverland Owners’ Trademark Requests for Jackson Souvenirs

By: Roger Friedman // Monday September 7, 2009

Michael Jackson’s partners in his Neverland Ranch, Colony Capital LLC, have filed 20 trademark requests to brand the ranch for souvenirs with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

I do mean lots of souvenirs. Here’s a partial list of where Colony would like to see the Neverland name stamped. If they’ve forgotten something, it beats me:

Games and playthings, namely: plush toys, paper dolls, dolls and accessories, toy action figures, toy vehicles, toy cars, toy trucks, toy bucket and shovel sets, roller skates, toy model hobbycraft kits, musical toys, jigsaw puzzles, badminton sets, bubble making wand and solution sets, toy banks, puppets, toy balloons, yo-yos, kites, baseball bats, balls of all kind, play wands, board games, playing cards, and children’s games to play during travel; ornaments, and decorations for a Christmas tree; sporting goods, museum services- namely: operating a museum in Michael Jackson’s former home and providing tours thereof; providing theme park services; entertainment services, namely: live shows and events; tennis and golf resort services; recreation and sporting club services; organization of meetings and conferences as well as clothing, footwear, headgear, and printed matter, namely: post cards, holiday/greeting cards, art prints, art reproductions, bumper stickers, stickers, decals, tissue/giftwrap, printed tickets, posters, wall calendars, flags and pennants of paper, printed and paper emblems, brochures, catalogs, and merchandise bags; books, namely: non-fiction books about Michael Jackson, activity books, address books, appointment books, coloring books, picture books, and comic books; paper and paper articles, namely: photographs, stationery, memo pads, notebooks, envelopes, pencil sharpeners, pen and pencil cases and boxes, pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, paper weights, staplers, binders, notebooks, stationery consisting of writing paper and envelopes, memo pads, writing tablets, paper table cloths, paper napkins, paper coasters, and paper mats; money clips, and in keeping with Michael Jackson’s theme of peace — toy rockets, toy guns, toy holsters.

Got the picture? The requests were made on August 12, 2009. Sycamore Valley Ranch, which made the filings, is the joint venture of Colony Capital LLC and Michael Jackson. Of course, the problem with at least some of this is that the town of Los Olivos, California, where Neverland fills 2,900 acres, is against the ranch being turned into a Graceland-style museum. The road that leads to Neverland is a country two lane blacktop that runs through horse country. A private school sits across the street from the Neverland entrance.

Colony has invested over $50 million in Neverland so far. They probably figure they’re going to make their money back somehow. Of course, they don’t seem to realize that Jackson had parted company with Neverland in June 2005 and didn’t want to go back. And that there are many associations with the ranch, including police raids, searches for evidence and pornography. Jay Leno is probably getting Back to School jokes ready right now.

But Thomas Barrack, who owns Colony, lives in the county and sources say he is pressing on the local government to give him what he wants. Whether or nor he succeeds remains uncertain. In the meantime, I think they should make Neverland into a Playmobil Playset where the gates open to find zoo animals, rollercoasters, and several Rolls Royces and Bentleys. Featured characters could include Colony’s Tohme Tohme, Bubbles the Chimp, Shmuley Boteach, and Tatum O’Neal.

The, er, attempted selling of Michael Jackson continues.
