I am looking to buy a wireless router for my laptop so I can easily access the internet for my online classes, however, I do not know which ones a good one: Linkeys? Cisco-Linkeys?

Please provide the instructions when I take it out of the box ; what do I need to do here on the laptop as well when I install it??

Also, if my home computer is turned off will I still be able to get on my laptop???

I don't have wireless but I think all you need to do is connect it to your modem. I could be and probably am wrong.

Oh, and Netgear is what I use and I've never had any trouble with it.

You just need to plug it into the phone line and its easy to link up your laptop to it. It takes 2 minutes. Ring your ISP though as they may need to upgrade your line for wireless. Also no, it doesn't matter whether your home PC is on or off. As long as your router is on its fine.

also make sure your laptop has a wireless card in it already..:)

yes I have a modem & cable internet at home & yes my laptop has a wireless card. =) thank you all. Any more tips: ...?
