In honor of reaching over 20 billion On Demand views, Comcast launched its first-annual Xfinity TV On Demand Awards and The Hangover and Michael Jackson were this year’s big winners. The Xfinity TV On Demand Awards rank the most-viewed programming of all time in movies, shows, cartoons, musicians and sports.
The Hangover wiped out the competition as the Most-Viewed New Release in On Demand history for Comcast’s first-annual Xfinity TV On Demand Awards. The unstoppable franchise beat out blockbuster hits including Avatar, Twilight, and The Blind Side to name a few, earning even more recognition as its sequel hits theaters this weekend. On the music front, “Bieber Fever” didn’t quite catch this time, as Beyonce beat out Justin Beiber for winner of the Overall Most-Watched Performer. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift swept the competition in the country category. Other noteworthy winners include South Park for Most-Watched Overall TV Series, and everyone’s favorite pineapple dweller - SpongeBob Squarepants, which won for Most-Watched Animated Kids Series.
