December 29, 2009. MediaTakeOut.com learned that rapper Jay Z now considers himself the King Of Pop. Here's what he said in a recent interview:

"I feel fantastic about turning 40, I'm in a great place, got a fantastic album, my eleventh number one which beats Elvis, so I'm feeling like the king of pop."

As crazy as it sounds . . . it's not that off.

If you're married to THE QUEEN OF POP . . . doesn't that make you the king???

Ok, I know the title is exaggerated. And i know it might be taken out of context or not even true (ala Kanye). but when will these people stop trying to take what does not belong to them.

And since when is Beyonce the Queen of Pop? Who wrote this article?

Well......TECHNICALLY.....he said he FEELS like the king of pop. He didnt say he WAS.

And besides.....he doesn't do pop. He still caters to Hip-Hop exclusively. Not rock (i don't count 99problems) and not anything else.


Sorry Jay-Z. I like the dude too.
 
I really don't think he would have said it in that way. He loved Michael, and wouldn't be that classless imo. Exaggerated as usual...
 
The article is exaggerated. Actually he is comparing himself to Elvis in a way even though the Title is MJs. Still, he is not even Elvis' level either. He's good, but not that good IMHO.
 
Blah just because rolling stone feels his wife is the queen of pop at the end of the day no body is taking MJ or can even carry his throne.
 
lol..aside from the fact that a lot of rappers are probably going to call Jay Z a sellout, right now, which he would probably object to, it's interesting that anybody other than Michael Jackson can call themselves the king of pop and contact music and other media doesn't mind. not only is MJ not documented as saying those exact words, Jay Z didn't mention Michael's name, either. the thought only entered contact music's mind, whether or not the thought was in Jay Z's mind. how..'ironic'./
 
It's getting to the point where I don't give a hoot claims the "pop" title.

Michael Jackson was the greatest entertainer in the world ever...period!

Anyways, It's harmless.

They can declare themselves whatever title they want but unless the public agrees with it, it will never be stuck! :cheeky:
 
This is from MediaTakeOut, the same place that talks shit about MJ before and after his death and has some of the most ignorant commenters ever! I will never forget what a few said about Prince, Paris and Blanket.

Everything from that blog is pure tabloid, and people accused Kanye of doing this but that was debunked.
 
I will glady give someone Michael's title after they get enough demand to do 200 concerts at the biggest arena in the world, but can only do 50 minimum.
