Recently, some friends told me Earth Song was the first #1 MJ hit in Germany... I couldn't believe it!! But Wikipedia says so. I mean, even in the 80ies, he field stadiums here with so many people. And e.g. in Munich 1992 (Dangerous World Premiere) which was my first MJ concert, there were 72000 people. How can this be? What exactly was the problem - was there so much competition and from whom (Prince, Madonna?).

And is there an overview how the other singles did? I couldn't find any.
 
I don't know anything about his German chart positions.

I have an encylcopedic knowledge of his his UK and US chart positions though.
 
His first UK solo number 1 was One Day In Your Life.

His first US solo number 1 was Billie Jean (I think).
 
thanks. Hm, but almost every album was #1 in Germany, too... so what's the deal. My friends exaggerated... probably few people but singles of Michael and prefered to buy the real deal (album).
