Charmian Carr who played the eldest daughter, Liesl, in the Sound of Music died today. I thought she was so beautiful when I was a little girl-especially when she danced and sang "Sixteen going on Seventeen" in the gazebo.

We've had stories about this before, but she worked as a designer for Michael at one time-I thought it was sweet that they mentioned HIM in her obituary.

Charmian Carr was 73.
Cast as “Liesl Van Trapp” in the Academy Award-winning film when she was 21, Carr died Saturday from complications of dementia in Woodland Hills, according to an obituary released by a publicist.
Carr had attended Hollywood Bowl sing-alongs of the movie annually for years, until 2012. She also shared a great friendship with singer Michael Jackson, who was a huge fan, her family reported.
Carr was born in 1942 to Brian Farnon, a musician and orchestra leader, and Rita Oehmen, a vaudeville actress.
After “The Sound of Music,” Carr starred opposite Anthony Perkins in a Stephen Sondheim television musical, “Evening Primrose.”
Her family said that Carr married then decided to leave the movie business and raise her two children, Jennifer and Emily. Once her children were older, Carr started her design business, Charmian Carr Design.
One client was Jackson, who said “The Sound of Music” was his favorite film, Carr’s family said in a prepared obituary.
Carr co-wrote two books: “Forever Liesl” in 2000 and “Letters to Liesl” in 2001, where she shared thousands of pieces of mail from fans.
“Through the years the actors who played the children in the movie all kept in touch and communicated often. Carr considered them her second family,” her family said today.
Carr was survived by daughters Jennifer and Emily, sisters Sharon and Darleen, brothers Michael and Brian, and four grandchildren.
No services were immediately announced.
