Charlton Heston (October 4, 1923 – April 5, 2008[1][2]) was an Academy Award-winning American film actor.

In a long career, Heston was known for playing heroic roles, such as Harry Steele in Secret of the Incas , Moses in The Ten Commandments, Colonel George Taylor in Planet of the Apes and Judah Ben-Hur in Ben-Hur. Early in his career, he was one of a handful of Hollywood stars to publicly speak out against racism and was active in the civil rights movement. During the latter part of his movie career, he starred in films such as The Omega Man and Soylent Green that had a strong environmental message. He was president of the National Rifle Association from 1998 to 2003.

wow he was a great actor  Ben-Hur is a favourite of mine ^_^

wonder what impact his death will have on the NRA

Thank you Charlton for the entertainment and wonderful movies. My condolences to his family. RIP.

I remember since I was a kid my family and I would watch 'The Ten Commandments' every year on ABC.

I admire him more for what he did during the Civil Rights Era of standing with Dr.King and fighting for the civil rights of all. As for his later life and the whole NRA thing not too much a fan of that but otherwise R.I.P. Mr. Heston you left a body of work that was simply briliant :flowers:

I agree...RIP ...however that NRA stuff was too much...

rest in peace, Ben-Hur is one of the greatest films ever made!

Wow, Moses is dead. May he rip.

And I didn't know that he stood with MLK. I must have been sitting under a tree. Cause I don't like rocks!

RIP to Charlton Heston. He was one of the best actors.

Now, the NRA..... I just like to remember him for his movies.
