Catholic Charities News:

Catholic Charities has received financial support from the following foundations in 2008. Their generous support allows us to provide a multitude of programs and services for individuals.

On behalf of the hundreds of individuals who will be served as a result of these grants, THANK YOU!

The Abington Foundation, Joseph M. and Eva L. Bruening Foundation, and the Thomas H. White Foundation gave grants to the Fatima Family Center to initiate a Neighbor to Neighbor Program. The program is designed to help community members help themselves. It involves leveraging the skills and talents of community residents and giving them opportunities to help their neighbors so that together, they can tackle their community’s challenges.

The Cleveland Foundation awarded a $41,000 grant to the Fatima Family Center for its Safe Spaces and Places Violence Prevention Program. The program will increase the capacity to help create a safer neighborhood for residents, employers, employees and visitors.

The Cleveland Foundation, in partnership with Time-Warner, provided a grant to the Fatima Family Center to support the Community Computer Access Program (computer lab).

Catholic Charities Community Services of Lake County (CCCS-Lake) also benefitted from a $70,000 (over two years) grant awarded by the Cleveland Foundation (Lake-Geauga Fund). The Families of Promise Program provides support to children and family while parents and spouses are incarcerated. The Turban Foundation also contributed $10,000 to this program.

The Community Foundation of Greater Lorain County granted $48,000 to Catholic Charities Community Services of Lorain County. The grant provides hot meals for one day and supports the Community Connections (outreach) Program.

The Ford Motor Company continued its annual support by contributing $4,000 to the St. Augustine Hunger Center’s Holiday Meals Program.

The Hugo and Mabel Young Foundation awarded a $12,000 grant to Catholic Charities Community Services of Ashland to provide counseling services at the Golden Center in Loudonville.

The Sisters of Charity Foundation provided a grant that allows Catholic Charities to implement the Promoting Achievement in Childhood Education (PACE). PACE is a comprehensive early childhood professional development training program for the teachers at two early learning sites in the Central neighborhood. The Sisters of Charity Foundation also provided grants to the DePaul Young Parent and the Bishop William M. Cosgrove Center.

Catholic Charities Community Services of Ashland County (CCCS-Ashland) received $3,000 from Target to support the Child Assault Prevention Program (CAP). CCCS-Ashland also received a $3,000 grant from the Mohican Area Community Fund to support the CAP and the No More Bullies, No More Victims programs.

The United Black Fund of Greater Cleveland, Inc. provided a grant to the DePaul Young Parent Program to support the Mother Resources Program. Volunteers and staff provide support to pregnant and parenting teens.
