So I decided to make a thread and see if there's any fans of Santana?

Here in Finland is a jazz festival going on now and Carlos was performing there yesterday - guess who was watching? ME! :wild:

He played little bit over 2 hours - he started ½ hour too early and played few extra songs.
I can't call myself a fan but I really like some of his biggest hits like Smooth, Maria Maria, Black magic woman... Also Into the night and Why don't you and I where Santana is featuring. AND of course Whatever happends (how could I almost forget that  )

I really enjoyed the concert, the athmosphere was great with people dancing and sun shining.. :)

Your thoughts about Carlos Santana?

Was it the Pori Jazz Festival?

I like some of Santana's songs, the most well known ones. I have to admit that I don't know much about his biography but definitely he has a great talent.

Whatever happens is one of the best collaborations in music history and it's one of Michael's best choices. Wish more people would know this song. I find it amazing. Michael's voice is so different in it, very good!!!

Every year they show it on the tv here in Hungary.

I have to admit that I don't like to watch or listen to it because I don't find it entertaining enough. It would be much different to see it live though.

Really?
I didn't know it's that popular

Well I'm not huge fan of jazz either but this was the first time we went to the actual concert and well, Santana is not actually jazz so it was good. :) If there weren't Santana it would've been waste of money IMO

But back to topic. Any other Santana listeners?

Yeah, they show it. :) Not the whole but 1 or 2 hours of it.

Santana must have been great to listen, most definitely.

I prefer his older 1970s music, to his current "pop" records. But some of the songs are ok like Smooth. It's just another indicator that for an older artist to sell, they have to have some really young singers & producers that are popular with teens and young adults. Al Green used some young acts, but at least the ones he used make traditional music. That's cool, he didn't have to put rappers on his record or have "crunk" beats to be relevant.

dig his guitar tone and playing but I like his live at the fillmore back in the early 70's and his 70's stuff overall. but he has always had a bit of the cheese factor in alot of the stuff he has done.

the past 10 years stuff I will pass on.

but he is a cool cat and I respect his playing.
