In a cup, in a ride.
One thing I love about Michael's music aside from his rockin' beats and inspiring lyrics - is the extra little sounds and acrobats he does with his voice.

When I was listening to Butterflies today I noticed a part I hadn't before that is frikkin' amazing and just crazy beautiful to me. From 3:50-3:56 ...what he does in the background with his voice - wow.

Anyone else favor specific little tidbits of sound in his songs?

Yea.. I do...

The improvised soulful longing at the end of Lady In My Life makes me weak in the knees...
That's MJ for ya... Just the sound of his voice....makes you feel really really good..

I dunno how this song wasn't a bigger hit... this was incredible.

Invincible totally underrated by the public

butterflies is like my all time favourite song, and i love LOVE LOVE that thing he does with his voice at 3.50. that falsetto... mmm i looove it

if you really listen to his songs he has alot of little things like that that really takes the song to a whole other level. it feels like he was so thorough when he produced his songs, he has so many little details that is incredible!

Exactly! His attention to detail was incredible...you almost have to listen to each song a few times to catch everything. Each little beat, grunt, the backing vocals...it's all perfection.

I think the high-pitched voice at 3:50 isn't MJ's, it's the background vocalist, Marsha Ambrosius who co-wrote the song. You can find a version of the song recorded before it was handed to MJ where it's just Marsha singing it.

I love that part also, but I think it's Marsha Ambrosius who's making that ad lib - I'm not 100% so anyone, don't be afraid to correct me! :D

There are so many different ad libs and stuff I love...
Some that comes to mind are:

3:38 into Heaven Can Wait, that descendo where the strings and everything just are "falling". That are so many special things with that song. It has a soft side, and it has a side where Michael 2:36 is in the background just screaming his lungs out; "My baby, do you do this to me, the angels come down"

I'm really weak for the strings 2:36 into Don't Walk Away, it's perfect marriage between Michael's voice and the strings.

Then there's silly little things that I love like that "Uh-huh" in She Drives Me Wild and that "Prrropp dopp dopp, prrrooopp do ba dop" in Remember The Time :hysterical:

I love to really get into the music, finding new things.
I don't know if this is on both versions of TDCAU, but I was blown away when I discovered kids singing waaaay back in the soundscape in some places in the verses of the uncensored version. :D
I love stuff like that :D

EDIT: LOL I see I was too late with the Butterflies thing, I should write my answers more quickly

Oh really? Hah. Well even if it wasn't Michael singing it it was an AMAZING addition to the song...I love it all the same!

Oh man I'm sooo with you on the "uh huh" in She Drives Me Wild... that sound drives me wild! And omg...I love love love the "prrropp dopp" he does in Remember the Time...I was just swooning to that sound yesterday...a definite fave! The roll of the tongue thing was such an awesome addition.

That's my favorite part of the song! And the part at 4:11-4:18
:)

Oh man did you have to tell me that, i love that bit it will never be the same now ,lol!

I love the way his voice sounds on "Butterflies." I find it a pretty relaxing song. Also I love the acapella in the beginning and end of "Speechless." And I love the way he sings the lyric "Break of dawn, girl you got to understand/It’s the way that I love you, let me show you I’m your man" from "Break of Dawn." It's just wow. Actually the whole of the Invincible album is pretty incredible vocally.

Of course I love all the "hehes" "ows" "daggonits" he does, and also the little "chchs" he puts in his songs. Especially on "Human Nature." These little things are what makes his songs so unique. :)

^^^ I'm with you on that! I actually keep listening to Mike's demo & Dangerous Rehearsal footage there are a lot of 'heehees', 'ow' & 'doggone it', I just love it :D

I actually like listening to "Beautiful Girl" even though the lyrics' composed of "Da de de da de da da dum" his voice is just

I love love love "Break of Down" OT: BOD is the gentle-sensual-explicit version of ITC, JMO lol :p

I love that part in Break Of Dawn where he sings " Come here , girl" Love the way he says "girl"

Michael's voice on this track=flawless .

He really sounds so beautiful. His falsetto is gorgeous and his vocals are really amazing. I can't say enough good things about this song or Michael's vocal performance.

Butterflies gives me chills everytime I hear it! His vocals along with music makes the hairs on my arms stick up. It's truly a magical song. It's my favorite song from the Invincible album.

I can't say how much I love this song. The chorus sounds like that girl is the reason for him to breathe and I love the lyrics. They are not obvious. He asks the girl to ignore him only so that he can to get the butterflies inside! He treasured the little simple things of life and the little details fo a relationship, like when he said he felt like fireworks were exploding when Tatum held his hand. This is so romantic. I hope there are more people like him around.

I love them, I intentionally listen to them. For me this is part of his brilliance. You are really missing out if you don't pick up on them.

I know this is about butterflies, but God you rock my world the original with no Jay-z. I love the way he does his tibits (whatever you want to call). This is another songs that moves me in ways that is just unreal.

Come on, Come on, Come on

This is the one of the best songs ever. Hah, this plays in my mind when I have boring evening alone or with some friend missing one girl. :D
