spokesman for the L.A. County Coroner's Office told the Star they have not yet determined a cause of actress Brittany Murphy's death, but "it appears to be natural."
"There are no signs of foul play or trauma," Coroner's Capt. John Kades said, adding that toxicology tests are still required and an autopsy will be performed "as soon as possible."
Murphy, who starred as a transformed geek in Clueless and later rose to fame in 8 Mile, died at 32.
Hollywood gossip website TMZ.com first reported the actress had died Sunday afternoon, citing multiple sources who said Murphy went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived by paramedics. The website reported that a 911 call was made at 8 a.m. from the home where the actress lived with screenwriter Simon Monjack, and that Murphy's mother found her unconscious in the shower.
Murphy was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles Sunday at 10:04 a.m. PST, a spokesperson for the hospital told the Star. The Los Angeles Police Department said they are investigating the death, but refused to discuss details.
Murphy's family is cooperating with the investigation, a coroner's official told the Associated Press.
The Coroner's Office also told the Star that though an autopsy has not yet been scheduled, investigators are working on retrieving Murphy's body from hospital.
Within hours of Murphy's death, more than a hundred Facebook pages were launched for the actress, one with over 12,000 fans.
