Downing Street said the singer's death was "very sad news" for his fans and that Gordon Brown's thoughts were with his family. "This is very sad news for the millions of Michael Jackson fans in Britain and around the world," the Prime Minister's spokesman said. "The Prime Minister's thoughts are with Michael Jackson's family at this time."

I think that's a suitable gesture. Still waiting for Obama's. It's embarrassing for the White House that we haven't seen a statement yet. It's been hours since Jermaine confirmed Michael's death.

hes prob bothered about all the lost revenue. if you dont really care dont say anything brown

It will be humiliating for Obama if he doesn't say anything. He must come out and feel the pulse of the American people! Everyone is sad today, and some recognition from the president should go without saying..

I'm losing more and more respect for Obama with every second that passes and still no statement. Maybe he should ask himself if he's the people's president, or the president of politics. Obviously he's afraid to comment due to the bad press Michael's had in the past, but that's all politics. Fuck it. Release a statement from the heart about the greatest musical talent to ever hit this planet, do it as an authority, a spokesperson for the people, and do it now.

If Obama doesn't speak up soon, I will have lost ALL respect for him. If it weren't for MJ there would be NO Obama in the white house today. Michael Jackson was the first black person to cross so many cultural barries and he was the first black person to be loved and admired all over the world as he was and is and will always be.

I'm sure Pres. Obama will say something soon. What time is it in America? I'm assuming its still early morning.
