British drama, 'The unloved' inspired by little Susie?

After watching The unloved I found it stark that the beginning and end of this incredible drama had the little girl lying at the bottom of the stairs all neglected battered and abandoned. It just reminded me so much of the Little Susie song that it is exactly how I always imagined a video for the song would be shot.

I think it has to be inspired by the song to some degree. maybe a tenuous link but still.

Anyone else see it agree?
