Adele owned 2011.
The kicky, 23-year-old British singer released her second album, the break-up requiem "21," in February, and in barely 11 months, she has already sold more than any artist in the world, currently inching towards 13 million globally.

2011 was definitely Adele's year, she's had success no one else can top this year, I just hope she can keep the momentum going.
 
Congrats to Adele! It's not often these days that a gifted voice alone can take you far.
 
She might be talented, but it would help if she makes some kind of movement on stage, instead of standing in one still position.
 
What I found ridiculous is that The Beatles are no.1 in the Catalog artist chart and MJ is the 5th, and only MJs No.1s album is in the Catalog album chart..., why people dont buy lets say HIStory album, or MJs solo albums from the 70s.... ??

I'm not sure how it works. I'm checking the Billboard 200 album chart for 2011. There the "Michael" album is Nr 54th and Number Ones is Nr 120. I don't see any Beatles before these albums. The Beatles "1" album (which is also a greatest hits album like Number Ones) is at Nr 175.
 
What I find astonishing is that MJ's No.1s album has outsold all of MJ's studios albums including Thriller since June 25th 2009 in USA.

That's not the kind of artist she is. She's a singer, not an entertainer.
 
I agree Travis, Adele is known for her voice, it's the same way Whitney is (or was :ninja:) known for her voice. Adele does say on her DVD at the royal Albert hall that she wishes she could dance :lol:
 
Good for her. She has been a breath of fresh air to be honest. I liked something she said. She makes music for the ears not the eyes. She doesn't need to be like the others.

Well, to be able to dance, she has to lose a few pounds. :lol:
