the popularity of the thread about the stupidest lyrics seems to suggest that it's an important part of music for many of us so i thought we can have also a thread with well written lyrics, to keep the balance lol.

personally i pay more attention to the instrumentation and rhythm patterns when listening to music and hardly never follow the lyrics and rarely remember words even to the songs i heard a thousand times lol. unless i concentrate intentionally and exclusively on lyrics, i'm missing almost completely what the song is about. generally i don't hear them as an integrated whole and the words themselves don't carry any emotional weight for me, no matter how beautifully are written and how deep the message is.

but i find some exceptions where lyrics create some additional images in my head which added to the music make the listening experience even more ecstatic, like with this wonderful track:

Stevie Wonder - Free

i'd like to hear how you guys look at it - do you know many songs in which lyrics are as important as the music for you or at least words add an extra element to the track, some additional meaning or power, intensity or just anything that makes you love the whole thing more? post song lyrics that you find meaningful or can relate to and think that the song wouldn't be so good without them.

Re: the most meaningful /beautiful/inspiring song lyrics

this is s strange phenom, because it's a lot like mcdonalds.

everybody says they hate that restaurant, but it's the most successful in the world. then they talk about how they love all these esoteric restaurants, but they're not making any money. lol

i hear a lot of 'stupid' lyrics on the charts, but i don't hear any esoteric lyrics on the charts. lol

i mean, there's a whole nother thread about a song that is a big hit. the o.p. likes the song, and so do a lot of other people.

the lyric goes..'boom boom pow'.

but what you said, seems to apply...it's about the music, or the sound, or the need to dance, mostly

Re: the most meaningful /beautiful/inspiring song lyrics

Well, truth be told, McDonalds is a perfect comparison. And a lot of music on the charts, its the McDonalds of music. It's not good, yet people flock to it because its accessible, its everywhere and everyone else likes it.

It's funny that a song from Stevie's "Characters" was what you chose, becasue I immediately thought of "You Will Know" from the same album. I enjoyed the song long before I knew it was Stevie. I used to hear it on the muzak system at work and just never really knew it was Stevie, for whatever reason.

Re: the most meaningful /beautiful/inspiring song lyrics

"Assault And Battery" by Howard Jones & "Animal Kingdom" by Prince because I relate to them as a vegan.

These because I think the lyrics are neat:
Wonderful World ~ Sam Cooke
Cousin Of Mine ~ Sam Cooke
The Way You Do The Things You Do ~ The Temptations
Ebony Eyes ~ Stevie Wonder
Randy Scouse Git ~ The Monkees
My Guy ~ Mary Wells
Peter Piper ~ Run DMC
Rapper's Delight ~ Sugarhill Gang
Mr. Telephone Man ~ New Edition
The Candy Man ~ Sammy Davis Jr.
Jam ~ Michael Jackson
Hit The Road Jack ~ Ray Charles
Return To Sender ~ Elvis Presley
Devil Goes Down To Georgia ~ Charlie Daniels

Re: the most meaningful /beautiful/inspiring song lyrics

In my head I always heard "Wonderful World" by Sam Cooke whenever I watched Forrest Gump, lol.

Re: the most meaningful /beautiful/inspiring song lyrics

I think the tragic ones are the most meaningful for instance:

Beautiful boy by John Lennon,

Close your eyes,
Have no fear,
The monsters gone,
He's on the run and your daddy's here,

Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,

Before you go to sleep,
Say a little prayer,
Every day in every way,
It's getting better and better,

Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,

Out on the ocean sailing away,
I can hardly wait,
To see you to come of age,
But I guess we'll both,
Just have to be patient,
Yes it's a long way to go,
But in the meantime,

Before you cross the street,
Take my hand,
Life is just what happens to you,
While your busy making other plans,

Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,
Darling,
Darling,
Darling Sean.

And also Eva Cassidy, I'm not ready

Don't make fun
We've just begun
Let's not play...
Just for today
Take it slow
You have to go
I think we're through...I'm still not ready for good times
Don't ask me why...
Never try laughter before sorrow...
Across the room
Let's not assume
We can forgive
The way of it
It's getting cold out...
so please close the open door and all the windows of my soul

They weren't necessarily meant to be tragic but they ended up being so.
Sam Cookes a change is gonna come and Otis Reddings, sitting on the dock of the bay have a similar tragedy to them.

Curtis Mayfield and The Impressions - People Get Ready
"There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner
Who would hurt all mankind just to save his own"

Prince - Sign Of The Times

When a rocket ship explodes
And everybody still wants 2 fly
Some say a man ain't happy
Unless a man truly dies
Oh why
Time, time"

Michael Jackson - Stranger In Moscow
"I was wandering in the rain
Mask of life, feelin insane
Swift and sudden fall from grace
Sunny days seem far away
Kremlins shadow belittlin me
Stalins tomb wont let me be
On and on and on it came
Wish the rain would just let me"

Blackstar - Brown Skin Lady
"I dont get many compliments, but I am confident
Used to have a complex about, gettin too complex
You got me, willin to try, looked me in the eye
My head is still in the sky, since you walked on by
Im feelin high, got my imagination flickerin like hot flames
Its how it seems, you make me wanna ride the coltrane to a love supreme
My brown lady, creates environments, for
Happy brown babies, I know it sounds crazy
But your skins the inspiration for cocoa butter
You provoke a brother we should get to know one another
I discover when I bring you through my people say true, all I can say
Is all praise due I thank you God for a beauty like you"

Judy Garland - Somewhere Over The Rainbow

That's where you'll find me."

Seeming like I'm having fun
Although she may be cute
She's just a substitute
Because you're the permanent one."

Marvin Gaye - What's Goin' On

You see, war is not the answer
For only love can conquer hate
You know we've got to find a way

Bob Dylan - Hurricane
"Now all the criminals in their coats
and their ties
Are free to drink martinis and watch the sun rise"

Common - Gaining One's Definition
"As a child, given religion with no answer to why
Just told believe in Jesus cuz for me he did die
Curiosity killed the catechism
Understanding and wisdom became the rhythm that I played to
And became a slave to master self
A rich man is one with knowledge, happiness and his health
My mind had dealt with the books of Zen, Tao the lessons
Koran and the Bible, to me they all vital
And got truth within 'em, gotta read them boys
You just can't skim 'em, different branches of belief
But one root that stem 'em, but people of the venom try to trim 'em
And use religion as an emblem
When it should be a natural way of life
Who am I or they to say to whom you pray ain't right
That's who got you doin right and got you this far
Whether you say "in Jesus name" or Hum do Allah
Long as you know it's a bein' that's supreme to you
You let that show towards others in the things you do"

Joni Mitchell - Big Yellow Taxi
"They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique
And a swinging hot spot
Dont it always seem to go
That you dont know what youve got
Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

They took all the trees
Put em in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see em
Dont it always seem to go
That you dont know what youve got
Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot"

Bruce Hornsby - The Way It Is
"They say hey little boy you can't go where the others go
'Cause you don't look like they do
Said hey old man how can you stand to think that way
Did you really think about it before you made the rules"

i could go on forever but i'll stop for now, lol.

Michael Jackson: On the line

Re: the most meaningful /beautiful/inspiring song lyrics

one of the best

John Lennon - Imagion

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Re: the most meaningful /beautiful/inspiring song lyrics

Although this song has no lyrics, I think it's one of the most inspiring songs ever.
Thomas Newman with his song called 'So was Red' from the movie The shawshank Redemption.

From Mr Jackson I like this song very much:

"Man In The Mirror"

I'm Gonna Make A Change,
For Once In My Life
It's Gonna Feel Real Good,
Gonna Make A Difference
Gonna Make It Right . . .

As I, Turn Up The Collar On My
Favourite Winter Coat
This Wind Is Blowin' My Mind
I See The Kids In The Street,
With Not Enough To Eat
Who Am I, To Be Blind?
Pretending Not To See
Their Needs
A Summer's Disregard,
A Broken Bottle Top
And A One Man's Soul
They Follow Each Other On
The Wind Ya' Know
'Cause They Got Nowhere
To Go
That's Why I Want You To
Know

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change
(Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change)
(Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na,
Na Nah)

I've Been A Victim Of A Selfish
Kind Of Love
It's Time That I Realize
That There Are Some With No
Home, Not A Nickel To Loan
Could It Be Really Me,
Pretending That They're Not
Alone?

A Willow Deeply Scarred,
Somebody's Broken Heart
And A Washed-Out Dream
(Washed-Out Dream)
They Follow The Pattern Of
The Wind, Ya' See
Cause They Got No Place
To Be
That's Why I'm Starting With
Me
(Starting With Me!)

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
(Ooh!)
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
(Ooh!)
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change
(Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change)

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
(Ooh!)
I'm Asking Him To Change His
Ways
(Change His Ways-Ooh!)
And No Message Could've
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make That . . .
(Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make That . . .)
Change!

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror,
(Man In The Mirror-Oh
Yeah!)
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
(Better Change!)
No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
(Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make The Change)
(You Gotta Get It Right, While
You Got The Time)
('Cause When You Close Your
Heart)
You Can't Close Your . . .Your
Mind!
(Then You Close Your . . .
Mind!)
That Man, That Man, That
Man, That Man
With That Man In The Mirror
(Man In The Mirror, Oh Yeah!)
That Man, That Man, That Man
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
(Better Change!)
You Know . . .That Man
No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change
(Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change)
Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!
Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na,
Na Nah
(Oh Yeah!)
Gonna Feel Real Good Now!
Yeah Yeah! Yeah Yeah!
Yeah Yeah!
Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na,
Na Nah
(Ooooh . . .)
Oh No, No No . . .
I'm Gonna Make A Change
It's Gonna Feel Real Good!
Come On!
(Change . . .)
Just Lift Yourself
You Know
You've Got To Stop It.
Yourself!
(Yeah!-Make That Change!)
I've Got To Make That Change,
Today!
Hoo!
(Man In The Mirror)
You Got To
You Got To Not Let Yourself . . .
Brother . . .
Hoo!
(Yeah!-Make That Change!)
You Know-I've Got To Get
That Man, That Man . . .
(Man In The Mirror)
You've Got To
You've Got To Move! Come
On! Come On!
You Got To . . .
Stand Up! Stand Up!
Stand Up!
(Yeah-Make That Change)
Stand Up And Lift
Yourself, Now!
(Man In The Mirror)
Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!
Aaow!
(Yeah-Make That Change)
Gonna Make That Change . . .
Come On!
(Man In The Mirror)
You Know It!

The Streets: Dry your eyes

In one single moment your whole life can turn 'round
I stand there for a minute starin' straight into the ground
Lookin' to the left slightly, then lookin' back down
World feels like it's caved in - proper sorry frown
Please let me show you where we could only just be, for us
I can change and I can grow or we could adjust
The wicked thing about us is we always have trust
We can even have an open relationship, if you must
I look at her she stares almost straight back at me
But her eyes glaze over like she's lookin' straight through me
Then her eyes must have closed for what seems an eternity
When they open up she's lookin' down at her feet

Dry your eyes mate
I know it's hard to take but her mind has been made up
There's plenty more fish in the sea
Dry your eyes mate
I know you want to make her see how much this pain hurts
But you've got to walk away now
It's over

So then I move my hand up from down by my side
It's shakin', my life is crashin' before my eyes
Turn the palm of my hand up to face the skies
Touch the bottom of her chin and let out a sigh
'Cause I can't imagine my life without you and me
There's things I can't imagine doin', things I can't imagine seein'
It weren't supposed to be easy, surely
Please, please, I beg you please
She brings her hands up towards where my hands rested
She wraps her fingers round mine with the softness she's blessed with
She peels away my fingers, looks at me and then gestures
By pushin' my hand away to my chest, from hers

And I'm just standin' there, I can't say a word
'Cause everythin's just gone
I've got nothin'
Absolutely nothin'

Tryin' to pull her close out of bare desperation
Put my arms around her tryin' to change what she's sayin'
Pull my head level with hers so she might engage in
Look into her eyes to make her listen again
I'm not gonna fuckin', just fuckin' leave it all now
'Cause you said it'd be forever and that was your vow
And you're gonna let our things simply crash and fall down
You're well out of order now, this is well out of town
She pulls away, my arms are tightly clamped round her waist
Gently pushes me back and she looks at me straight
Turns around so she's now got her back to my face
Takes one step forward, looks back, and then walks away

I know in the past I've found it hard to say
Tellin' you things, but not tellin' straight
But the more I pull on your hand and say
The more you pull away

Pink~Who knew

You took my hand
You showed me how
You promised me you'd be around
Uh huh
That's right
I took your words
And I believed
In everything
You said to me
Yeah huh
That's right

If someone said three years from now
You'd be long gone
I'd stand up and punch them out
Cause they're all wrong
I know better
cause you said forever
and ever
who knew

Remember when we were such fools
And so convinced and just too cool
Oh no
No no
I wish I could touch you again
I wish I could still call you a friend
I'd give anything

When someone said count your blessings now
For they're long gone
I guess I just didn't know how
I was all wrong
They knew better
Still you said forever
And ever
Who knew

Yeah yeah
I'll keep you locked in my head
Until we meet again
Until we
Until we meet again
And I won't forget you my friend
What happened

If someone said three years from now
You'd be long gone
I'd stand up and punch them out
Cause they're all wrong
That last kiss
I'll cherish
Until we meet again
And time makes
It harder
I wish I could remember
But I keep
Your memory
You visit me in my sleep
My darling
Who knew
My darling
My darling
Who knew
My darling
I miss you
My darling
Who knew
Who knew

I think everyone here can relate to this song. It remains us of someone that we once knew, someone that we lost.

I don't wanna be the girl who laughs the loudest
Or the girl who never wants to be alone
I don't wanna be that call at four o'clock in the morning
'cuz i'm the only one you know in the world that won't be home

The sun is blinding
I stayed again
Ooh, i am finding
That's not the way i want my story to end
I'm safe
Up high
Nothing can touch me
Why do i feel this party's over?
No pain
Inside

You're my protection
How do i feel this good sober?
I don't wanna be the girl who has to fill the silence
Quiet scares me 'cuz its words are true

Please don't tell me that we had that conversation
I wont remember save your breath, cause whats the use?
The night is calling
And it whispers to me softly "come and play"
I am falling
And if i let myself go im the only one to blame

I'm safe
Up high
Nothing can touch me
Why do i feel this party's over?
No pain
Inside
You're like perfection
How do i feel this good sober?

Comin' down
Comin' down
Comin' down
Spinnin' round
Spinnin' round
Spinnin' round
Lookin' for myself, sober
Comin' down
Comin' down
Comin' down
Spinnin' round
Spinnin' round
Spinnin' round

Lookin' for myself, sober
When it's good, then its good, it's so good
Till it goes bad
Till you're trying to find the you that you once had
I have heard myself crying;
Never again
Broken down in agony
Just tryin' a find a way

I'm safe
Up high
Nothing can touch me
Why do i feel this party's over?
No pain
Inside
You're like perfection
How do i feel this good sober?
Im safe
up high
nothing can touch me
Why do i feel this party's over?
no pain
inside
youre like perfection
how go i feel this good sober?

Will You Be There - Michael Jackson. I love this song! Will never grow out of it.

Hold Me
Like The River Jordan
And I Will Then Say To Thee
You Are My Friend

Carry Me
Like You Are My Brother
Love Me Like A Mother
Will You Be There?

Weary
Tell Me Will You Hold Me
When Wrong, Will You Skold Me
When Lost Will You Find Me?

But They Told Me
A Man Should Be Faithful
And Walk When Not Able
And Fight Till The End
But I'm Only Human

Everyone's Taking Control Of Me
Seems That The World's
Got A Role For Me
I'm So Confused
Will You Show To Me
You'll Be There For Me
And Care Enough To Bear Me

(Hold Me)
(Lay Your Head Lowly)
(Softly Then Boldly)
(Carry Me There)

(Lead Me)
(Love Me And Feed Me)
(Kiss Me And Free Me)
(I Will Feel Blessed)

(Carry)
(Carry Me Boldly)
(Lift Me Up Slowly)
(Carry Me There)

(Save Me)
(Heal Me And Bathe Me)
(Softly You Say To Me)
(I Will Be There)

(Lift Me)
(Lift Me Up Slowly)
(Carry Me Boldly)
(Show Me You Care)

(Hold Me)
(Lay Your Head Lowly)
(Softly Then Boldly)
(Carry Me There)

(Need Me)
(Love Me And Feed Me)
(Kiss Me And Free Me)
(I Will Feel Blessed)

[Spoken]
In Our Darkest Hour
In My Deepest Despair
Will You Still Care?
Will You Be There?
In My Trials
And My Tripulations
Through Our Doubts
And Frustrations
In My Violence
In My Turbulence
Through My Fear
And My Confessions
In My Anguish And My Pain
Through My Joy And My Sorrow
In The Promise Of Another Tomorrow
I'll Never Let You Part
For You're Always In My Heart.

awesome thread i had it in mind :)

so here is mine... just please hear the song as well!

Pink - Glitter In The Air
Have you ever fed a lover with just your haNds?
Closed your eyes And trusted, just trusted
Have you ever Thrown a fist full of glitter in the air?
Have you ever looked fear in the face
And said I just don’t care

It’s only half past the point of No return
The tip of the iceberg
The sun before the burn
The tHunder before lightning
The breathe before the phrase
Have you ever felt thIs way?

Have you ever hated yourSelf for staring at the phone?
You’re whole life waiting on the ring to prove you’re noT alone
Have you Ever been touched so gently you had to cry?
Have you ever inviteD a stranger to come inside?

It’s only half past the point of oblivion
The hourglass on the table
The walk before the run
The breathe before the kiss
And the fear before the flames
Have you ever felt this way?
La La La La La La La La

There you are, sitting in the garden
Clutching my coffee,
Calling me sugar
You called me sugar

Have you ever wished for an endless night?
Lassoed the moon and the stars and pulled that rope tight
Have you ever held your breathe and asked yourself will it ever get better than tonight?
Tonight

I don't wanna be the girl who laughs the loudest
Or the girl who never wants to be alone
I don't wanna be that call at four o'clock in the morning
'cuz i'm the only one you know in the world that won't be home

The sun is blinding
I stayed again
Ooh, i am finding
That's not the way i want my story to end
I'm safe
Up high
Nothing can touch me
Why do i feel this party's over?
No pain
Inside

You're my protection
How do i feel this good sober?
I don't wanna be the girl who has to fill the silence
Quiet scares me 'cuz its words are true

Please don't tell me that we had that conversation
I wont remember save your breath, cause whats the use?
The night is calling
And it whispers to me softly "come and play"
I am falling
And if i let myself go im the only one to blame

I'm safe
Up high
Nothing can touch me
Why do i feel this party's over?
No pain
Inside
You're like perfection
How do i feel this good sober?

Comin' down
Comin' down
Comin' down
Spinnin' round
Spinnin' round
Spinnin' round
Lookin' for myself, sober
Comin' down
Comin' down
Comin' down
Spinnin' round
Spinnin' round
Spinnin' round

Lookin' for myself, sober
When it's good, then its good, it's so good
Till it goes bad
Till you're trying to find the you that you once had
I have heard myself crying;
Never again
Broken down in agony
Just tryin' a find a way

I'm safe
Up high
Nothing can touch me
Why do i feel this party's over?
No pain
Inside
You're like perfection
How do i feel this good sober?
Im safe
up high
nothing can touch me
Why do i feel this party's over?
no pain
inside
youre like perfection
how go i feel this good sober?

The Corrs - No Frontiers
Lyrics & Music By: Jimmy McCarthy

If life is a river and your heart is a boat
And just like a water baby, born to float,
And if life is a wild wind that blows way on high,
And your heart is Amelia dying to fly,
Heaven knows no frontiers and I've seen heaven in your eyes

And if life is a bar room in which we must wait,
'round the man with his fingers on the ivory gates,
Where we sing until dawn of our fears and our fates,
And we stack all the dead men in self addressed crates,
In your eyes faint as the singing of a lark,
That somehow this black night,
Feels warmer for the spark,
Warmer for the spark,
To hold us 'til the day,
When fear will lose its grip,
And heaven has its way,
Heaven knows no frontiers,
And I've seen heaven in your eyes

If your life is a rough bed of brambles and nails,
And your spirit's a slave to man's whips and man's jails,
Where you thirst and you hunger for justice and right,
And your heart is a pure flame of man's constant night,
In your eyes faint as the singing of a lark,
That somehow this black night,
Feels warmer for the spark,
Warmer for the spark,
To hold us 'til the day when fear will lose its grip,
And heaven has its way,
And heaven has its way,
When all will harmonise,
And know what's in our hearts,
The dream will realise

Heaven knows no frontiers,
And I've seen heaven in your eyes,
Heaven knows no frontiers,
And I've seen heaven in your eyes

"What's Love Got To Do With It"

You must understand
That the touch of your hand
Makes my pulse react
That it`s only the thrill
Of boy meeting girl
Opposites attract

It`s physical
Only logical
You must try to ignore
That it means more than that

[Chorus]
Oh whats love got to do, got to do with it
What`s love but a second hand emotion
What`s love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart
When a heart can be broken

It may seem to you
That i`m acting confused
When you`re close to me
If i tend to look dazed
I`ve read it someplace
I`ve got cause to be

There`s a name for it
There`s a phrase that fits
But whatever the reason
You do it for me

[Chorus]

I`ve been thinking of a new direction
But i have to say
I`ve been thinking about my own protection
It scares me to feel this way

What`s love got to do, got to do with it
What`s love but a sweet old fashioned notion
What`s love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken

in the context of this song, to me, the best line is, 'i've read it someplace'.

i heard this song on a jazz/pop station. i don't know who the writer is, but the singer is Tina Turner.

Re: the most meaningful /beautiful/inspiring song lyrics

Although this song has no lyrics, I think it's one of the most inspiring songs ever.
Thomas Newman with his song called 'So was Red' from the movie The shawshank Redemption.

From Mr Jackson I like this song very much:

"Man In The Mirror"

I'm Gonna Make A Change,
For Once In My Life
It's Gonna Feel Real Good,
Gonna Make A Difference
Gonna Make It Right . . .

As I, Turn Up The Collar On My
Favourite Winter Coat
This Wind Is Blowin' My Mind
I See The Kids In The Street,
With Not Enough To Eat
Who Am I, To Be Blind?
Pretending Not To See
Their Needs
A Summer's Disregard,
A Broken Bottle Top
And A One Man's Soul
They Follow Each Other On
The Wind Ya' Know
'Cause They Got Nowhere
To Go
That's Why I Want You To
Know

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change
(Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change)
(Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na,
Na Nah)

I've Been A Victim Of A Selfish
Kind Of Love
It's Time That I Realize
That There Are Some With No
Home, Not A Nickel To Loan
Could It Be Really Me,
Pretending That They're Not
Alone?

A Willow Deeply Scarred,
Somebody's Broken Heart
And A Washed-Out Dream
(Washed-Out Dream)
They Follow The Pattern Of
The Wind, Ya' See
Cause They Got No Place
To Be
That's Why I'm Starting With
Me
(Starting With Me!)

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
(Ooh!)
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
(Ooh!)
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change
(Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change)

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
(Ooh!)
I'm Asking Him To Change His
Ways
(Change His Ways-Ooh!)
And No Message Could've
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make That . . .
(Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make That . . .)
Change!

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror,
(Man In The Mirror-Oh
Yeah!)
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
(Better Change!)
No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
(Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make The Change)
(You Gotta Get It Right, While
You Got The Time)
('Cause When You Close Your
Heart)
You Can't Close Your . . .Your
Mind!
(Then You Close Your . . .
Mind!)
That Man, That Man, That
Man, That Man
With That Man In The Mirror
(Man In The Mirror, Oh Yeah!)
That Man, That Man, That Man
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
(Better Change!)
You Know . . .That Man
No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change
(Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change)
Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!
Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na,
Na Nah
(Oh Yeah!)
Gonna Feel Real Good Now!
Yeah Yeah! Yeah Yeah!
Yeah Yeah!
Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na,
Na Nah
(Ooooh . . .)
Oh No, No No . . .
I'm Gonna Make A Change
It's Gonna Feel Real Good!
Come On!
(Change . . .)
Just Lift Yourself
You Know
You've Got To Stop It.
Yourself!
(Yeah!-Make That Change!)
I've Got To Make That Change,
Today!
Hoo!
(Man In The Mirror)
You Got To
You Got To Not Let Yourself . . .
Brother . . .
Hoo!
(Yeah!-Make That Change!)
You Know-I've Got To Get
That Man, That Man . . .
(Man In The Mirror)
You've Got To
You've Got To Move! Come
On! Come On!
You Got To . . .
Stand Up! Stand Up!
Stand Up!
(Yeah-Make That Change)
Stand Up And Lift
Yourself, Now!
(Man In The Mirror)
Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!
Aaow!
(Yeah-Make That Change)
Gonna Make That Change . . .
Come On!
(Man In The Mirror)
You Know It!
You Know It!
You Know It!
You Know . . .
(Change . . .)
Make That Change.

This is one of many wonderful songs of Michael. I was always thrilled when I listen to.

I love a song called As by George Michael and Mary J Blige. It is actually a cover of a Stevie Wonder's song called As. I kinda prefer the George michael and J Blige version. The beat and lyrics are bewitching. Listen to it every morning u'll be in a good mood.

You can watch the video clip at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCyGHjim5fc

Unfortunately i do not think they ever performed it live.

Anyhow, here are the lyrics:

[GM]
As around the sun the earth knows she's revolving
And the rosebuds know to bloom in early May
Just as hate knows love's a cure
You can rest your mind assured
That I'll be lovin' you always

As now can't reveal the mystery of tomorrow
But in passing will grow older every day
Just as all is born is new
You know what I say is true
That I'll be lovin' you always

[All]
Until the rainbow burns the stars out of the sky
Until the ocean covers every mountain high
Until the day that eight times eight times eight is four
Until the day that it's the day that I'm no more

[MJB]
Did you know that true love asks for nothing
Her acceptance is the way we pay
Did you know that life has given love a guarentee
That last through forever
Another day

[GM] As today I know I'm living for tomorrow
Couldn't make me be the past but that I mustn't fear
[MJB] Now I know deep in my mind
The love of me I left behind
[GM] And I'll be loving you always

[1 - All]
Until the rainbow burns the stars out of the sky
Until the ocean covers every mountain high
Until the dolphins fly and parrots live at sea
Until we dream of life and life becomes a dream

Until the day is night and night becomes the day
Until the trees and seas just up and fly away
Until the day that eight times eight times eight is four
Until the day that it's the day that I'm no more

[GM] Did you know that true love asks for nothing
[MJB] (True love don't wanna pay)
[GM] Her acceptance is the way we pay
Did you know that life has given love a guarentee
To last through forever
[MJB] Another day

[GM] As around the sun the earth knows she's revolving
And the rosebuds know to bloom in early May
[MJB] Now I know deep in my mind
The love of me I left behind
[GM] That I'll be lovin' you always

[Repeat 1]

Always
Always

[Repeat 1]

'i'm so 3008, you're so two thousand, late

i got that boom boom Pow'

Black Eyed Peas - 'Boom Boom Pow'

:D

I've always thought certain songs by Shalamar were well written because they seemed sincere & thoughtful. Also, the Black Eyed Peas' Where is the Love has some of the best lyrics ever, I think.

Oh & Paula Abdul's Cold Hearted Snake especially the trick or treating line is one of the best lyrics.
